I have been working at Fairfield Manufacturing full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

People are friendly and ready to help.
Projects are diverse and lots of fun.
Managers are approachable and caring for young people.
Lots of young engineers consolidate a continuing future.

    Cons

Lack of systematic training for new hires.
How much a new hire pick up after a few years mainly depends on how much questions he/she asks.
A little slow in following the leading-technology the industry is using.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Setup systematic new hire training, to save senior engineer's time in repetitively teaching each young engineer, one at a time.
Keep a closer look at what the rest of industry is developing, and what tools is being adopted.

I have been working at Fairfield Manufacturing full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I got to learn quite a bit about cnc machining. Mostly kept to myself and ran my machines and read a book.

    Cons

The odd war between Management and Union. The Trucker stop bathrooms.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Engage with your employees, Don't sit in your office all day long only to come out when there is a problem. There is a US VS THEM mentality that is the foundation of everything we do on the floor. Taking steps to bridge this gap can only help the company. Basic small talk, buying the guys lunch, performance based bonuses. All these things I have at my new job shop and it makes me work a hell of a lot harder/smarter then at Fairfield.

I have been working at Fairfield Manufacturing

    Pros

Great people, great technology. The opportunity to travel internationally. You can be involved in almost any aspect of the business. The senior management team is experienced and very competent. There is a the opportunity to be involved with very advanced manufacturing technology. The people are friendly and willing to share information. Wages are fair. Compensation is fair. It looks like Fairfield with be able to continue growing over the next couple years, perhaps longer.

    Cons

Reviews are not alway timely. It is a factory, but a clean one.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work with sharing and communicating. Everyone likes to know what is going on.
