Pros
Lots of career opportunities worldwide
Cons
Hotel business is tough no matter where you work, very busy hotel
Pros
Some good traveling benefits..ok pay
Cons
sometines tough people to work with, divide b/t union employees and managment
Advice to Senior Management
have management treat all employees equally not just the ones in management, the people that do all the hard labor are the foundation of the hotel, but are undervalued. please respect people that do good work no matter what title they have. the best managers are the ones that have started at the bottom and worked their way up. they know what the struggle is like and appreciate their employees more.
Pros
Fairmont offers a lot of opportunity for growth within the company, whether it be with the property you currently are employed or at another property elsewhere. Also, Fairmont prides itself on providing top notch customer service and they truly do.
Cons
For me I would have to say the only downside of working for Fairmont Pittsburgh is that it is a new hotel that has not even been open for one whole year. There for there have been a lot of kinks to work out resulting in a higher than average turnover rate for the hotel industry.
Advice to Senior Management
I would focus on lowering employee turnover rather than other side projects just in this beginning year of being open.
Pros
Great location in the central of Beijing, and the employees are very friendly, sociable and welcoming. Had a good revenue training in the sales and marketing department.
Cons
As the building is over a hundred years old, the staff facilities are quite poor, and the staff canteen serves only local food for meals.
