    Pros

The ability to change young people's lives and give them a chance for a real future. Co-workers with a real heart for the work they do.

    Cons

Very stressful work environment, clients will verbally abuse you, attempt to physically attack you. Very little pay for the amount of work and stress.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give the support that is needed to your workers on the front line- working on the floor, with better support, bonuses, raises, vacation time, and it will greatly improve the employee turn over rate.

Former Employee - Mental Health Counselor in Sacramento, CA

    Pros

Entry-level experience coming out of school. If you are not entry-level, do not bother!
Experience working with a wide range of client throughout the community

    Cons

Pay is horrible! expect no more than $20/hour for a Master's degree. Recently merged with EMQ in Sacramento, CA and they did a horrible job figuring out the transition and many left. Rack up many miles on the car and do not get paid adequately for this. Medical and Dental is a joke. 401k is very minimal. Supervisors are constantly leaving and in transition. The supervisors that stay are incompenent or micromanagers. Clearly, I thought people would be better here, considering the field that they work in, but they fail worse than county mental health departments I have worked for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go to school, get an MBA or Org Development education to know how to be leaders.
