I worked at Family Dollar Stores full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

It's a job if you have nothing it's better than nothing. Some customers and coworkers are really great though

    Cons

Terrible pay, DMs don't even do their jobs and let the managers get away with things that normal employees would get fired for, they don't provide enough man hours to properly man the store so you could very well get stuck working open to close all by yourself.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get your act together. Treat your employees better and pay better. It shouldn't matter what area is more dangerous than another to depend on what someone gets paid.

I have been working at Family Dollar Stores full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits namely days off are excellent as you receive about 18 paid days off a year in your first year alone.
    Work is continuous without lulls.
    Facilities are in good shape.

    Cons

Depending on your department you can work as low as 30 hours a week while other departments are working overtime.
Absolutely no forgiveness if you miss productivity, make it or gone.
Several inefficiencies and odd placements make completing the job difficult at times.
Damaged equipment can hurt your productivity rates but you aren't given any benefits for having to solve the problem
After the first year, nothing really goes up. You get a max of a 50 cent raise a year, and you don't accrue more vacation time until after second year.

I have been working at Family Dollar Stores full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Friendly people, great customers (no matter what store I've worked in), the benefits they have and offer

    Cons

Schedule constantly changes at the last minute, they're constantly moving management around, they hire and rehire alot of the wrong people, they don't give adaquet training, the pay doesn't match the experience, they tell you things will happen and/or change yet never follow through with any of it

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You really need to take a look at the things you do and how you train other members of management, learn to treat all your employees equally, try to manage a schedule that you can maintain and not have to change it several times throughout the week (especially without asking the employee if they are able to work with the changes instead of not asking and leaving them in a not so good situation
