Not a 21st Century Company

Business Analyst II (Current Employee)
Washington, DC

I have been working at Fannie Mae full-time for more than 3 years

ProsClose commute. My manager offers a flexible schedule and my team works well together.

ConsStill using MS Windows 2003. Technology is archaic and there is no training. Zero professional growth.

Advice to Senior ManagementGoogle search Big Data and Data Science. Move beyond Excel 2003 for BI and analytics.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Great Place for Opportunity

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Fannie Mae

ProsLike the people, the work, location. Grow within, so if hired, you have lots of opportunity for a long career within the company.

ConsI really dont have anything bad to say. Not all the jobs at Fannie allow to work from home, but thats more of a perk.

Very satisfied employee, but always room for improvement

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Washington, DC

I have been working at Fannie Mae full-time for more than a year

ProsVery team work oriented atmosphere. Employees actually care about each other and won't hesitate to help a teammate out if needed. I feel that internal hiring/promotions are fair and that Fannie really does try to encourage hiring/promoting from within. Generally happy employees, will always get a smile or hi in passing other employees in the hall or elevator. Very diverse workplace. The pay here is decent, always could be better. I feel that the benefits are great as well but there always could be room for improvement.

ConsSometimes a little too serious. Could use more "fun" employee engagement activities. In my opinion, thats what helps foster more of a sense of belonging and loyalty to the organization.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore assistance in career development would be nice!

Great for consultants

Project Manager (Former Employee)
Herndon, VA

I worked at Fannie Mae as a contractor for more than a year

ProsObjectivity of consultant's role helps drive employee results and focus which is also easier on departmental politics.

ConsHigh level of governance which takes priority over all other objectives. Difficult to change process surrounding governance. Sign-offs required regardless of logic if it is a governance item.

Advice to Senior ManagementDecide what is really important (governance vs. delivery) and provide incentives based on those objectives

Fannie Mae Fraud Investigator III

Fraud Investigator III (Former Employee)
Dallas, TX

I worked at Fannie Mae full-time for less than a year

ProsExcellent experience-base as I was a previous (first) contractor in the fraud department for 3+ years as well.

ConsCurrent management has total lack of concern for associate's moral. Previous Manager and Director we an excellent team. Upper management made a huge mistake replacing this team with the current team.

Advice to Senior ManagementUpper management is fully aware of their associates dissatisfaction as it has been fully shown in each yearly decline.
