    Pros

Very financially sound (profitable) organization with good compensation and bonus opportunities if you are in management. The work schedule is also very attractive with a M-F, 7:15 to 4 pm schedule for most people.

    Cons

Sr. Management team is fractured and sometimes have problems facing real issues outside of their direct view. They tend to protect their own and ignore some of their team's unprofessional/unacceptable behavior.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Figure out who the bad seed is and remove it before more damage is done to the most important member facing division in the company. You already know who that is, act on it! Why risk more employee law suits by letting this person continue to run good people off.

    Pros

Training is top notch. They go out of the way to make you feel at home Pay seems to be commesurate with industry standards

    Cons

The locations are not always too good. All in all there really is not that much negative I can say about the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be nice to have more locations

I worked at Farmers Insurance Group FCU full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Learn new skills in field marketing and banking
Can be a stable job if you are ok with complying w/ management's opinions & can prioritize sales over service, work/life balance, and operational duties

    Cons

Management vs. employees attitude among upper management
Middle management not allowed to make own decisions
Several lawsuits paid out against upper management not affecting their employment
Big company (Farmers) but Credit Union small and lots of gossip, drama even among managers
Organization is extremely fire-happy. Does not know how to develop employees rather than quickly replace them

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't advertise the benefits of being part of the bigger company if you don't want employees to apply internally. Treat your employees with more respect if you want them to stay. Management needs to be more attentive to employees opinions and ideas for change. The CU is old and outdated & front line employees are frustrated with managements opposition to new ideas. Also agents & Farmers employees have said that they would never want to join a credit union that mistreats its employees. Word gets around quickly especially regarding the many HR complaints.

    Pros

Good starter position, big company, pick up some knowledge, & learn things not to do. I would not recommend anyone unless they were in dire need to work at Farmers. There are many more better companies in this field.

    Cons

Favoritism, nepotism, degrading performance evaluations - weekly & often daily by the very same people who hired you. I found the work environment very antagonistic from the start due to internal jealousy & insecurity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire them all & start over. Oh, and this includes YOU TOO.

    Pros

Pay is considerable, friendly staff, great members. Family oriented individuals who take the time to help one another. Great structure

    Cons

Senior Management feels that they have the company in control, where in reality they fail to address their employees issues and concerns.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take the time to listen and treat other employees, they way you would like to be treated.

    Pros

Great supervisors and middle management with good benefits and an excellent training program. Great comradery with co-workers. Locations are generally updated with the times.

    Cons

Upper management has lost sight of the real reason they are there, to serve the membership's financial needs. Too much attention is placed on sales. Top management is influenced too much by one or two members of upper management. Look at employee turnover in various departments and consider the story it tells.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Renew your view of the credit union's function and stop considering sales the ultimate goal.

    Cons

Managers differ greatly, find one that's a good fit for you. Remember while they are interviewing you, you should be interviewing them

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

People learn differently, try to maximize everyones potential which might mean not applying the same "cookie cutter" teaching style

    Pros

Mostly decent people to work with. Never had any personal complaint against anyone, but there is a lack of that "family" feeling that they claim to have in the work place.

    Cons

Constant changes have been made over the last few years in the company organization that do not often make sense. Seems like they are just making changes so they can say they did something, but not exactly something productive or meaningful. Busy work mentality.
