    Pros

-Learn valuable experience about all aspects of running your own business
-Learn to juggle a book of business averaging anywhere from 10-30 accounts depending on your branch and market (If you happen to land 1-2 10K+ accounts you will not need to spend too much time or effort chasing new opportunity or worrying about accounts that do less than 1K/month. If you do not land these accounts you will need to balance many 1K-5K accounts to hit large, sometimes unrealistic goals set by the District Manager)
-Flexible when life's problems occur (Doctor visits, emergencies)
-Commissions added if you maintain over a 55% Gross Margin (+5% bonus per 1 point over 55)
-My advice for anyone considering Fastenal as their employer is to use this company as a first step to your business career to learn the ins and outs of business, what it takes to grow a business to operate profitably, and utilize their paid training classes / online classes and find a better company to grow with that actually values life-term employees

    Cons

    -Low base salary
-Commissions taken away if you do not maintain a 55% Gross Margin (-5% bonus per 1 point under 55) This occurs much more frequently than the +% will - unless you can find either accounts that are not aware of better opportunities for lower pricing or outright lazy purchasers. Does this commission that is taken away go into growing the company? No, it gets added to higher-up management
-Low upward mobility to advance: Account Manager -> General Manager (Generally only 6-10 per district) -> District Manager (Generally 1 per 6-10 stores in a multi-town region spreading many miles) -> Regional Manager

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the ridiculous commission +/- structure and stop padding your paychecks. All employees matter and the ones who are losing that money they are earning for the company are the ones who keep you in your position.

    Pros

It is a great place to get experience for your resume. You can move up quickly if you have a little ambition.

    Cons

They do not pay their employees well enough. Over worked and under paid does not get an A in my book.

    Advice to Management

Find other ways to make cuts rather than take it out on employees commission. Also give recognition where it is need.

I have been working at Fastenal part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you're looking for a part time job the hours are good; there are no evening or weekend hours.

    Cons

Company is more concerned with saving a few dollars than hiring/keeping good employees. They want more part time employees because they're cheaper than full time employees. There is no career potential here.

    Advice to Management

You're not going to get the employees you want by offering them part time jobs with no potential for advancement.

    Pros

Fastenal provides training; offers weekends and nights off; likes to promote from within; etc.

    Cons

Changes in commission pay make earning reasonable pay difficult. Technological updates take too long to reach all branches.

    Pros

Flexibility, Great staff and management, promote from within. The management in T-hub is younger, and are very open to hearing out new ideas and strategies to solve problems.
T-hub was a really interesting warehouse to work in. New facility, so everyone there was getting acquainted with new machinery and software. As such, lots of daily issues would arise in trying to smooth out things like software glitches, issues with totes getting stuck in the conveyors or cranes. However, it presented a lot of opportunities for employees to demonstrate their problem solving skills, and patience. Some people might see it as annoying, but I looked at it as a way to help the company. Management recognized people who put in the effort, and while it didnt result in more hours or a pay raise, it certainly puts you at the top of the list to be considered for a promotion.

    Cons

If you're part time, they mean it. Nobody is allowed to work more than 28hrs in a week as a part timer. However, full time is considered 32 hrs. So anything over that is overtime, but they're very strict about it. Not really a con, but if you want more hours as a part timer, it just wont happen.

    Advice to Management

    None
