Fountain Inn, SC - The Absolute Worst Job of My Career! You Will Not Be Happy Here...

Current Employee - Supervisor/Engineer in Fountain Inn, SC

I have been working at Faurecia full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

You make decent money. That is how they get their talent by prompting you with a big bonus for you to sign a contract with them. Supervisors, Engineers, and everyone alike are treated like they are meaningless when in fact the managers are the ones that are uneducated dictators. They will say they have new management, but they are worst than the previous managers.

    Cons

    Several Cons:
    - Work hours are exhausting. Monday through Sunday with 12 hour days.
    - Management believes in putting fear into people. They mistreat everyone below management level. The hourly are treated in a way that is way out of employment laws, and they are lucky they are not already closed down from a lawsuit.
    - They will lie to you about the schedule you sign up for and the opportunities available. You must be French in order to advance.
    - It is a simple manufacturing process made difficult. If you are experienced you can fix your area, but unfortunately management will resist improvement if it is not their idea. Therefore you never get better in your process. Then management is angry because the process is terrible, yet it is managements fault.
    - Turn over is extremely high due to mistreatment of employees.
    - If you are great at Lean you will be extremely frustrated here. They do not use or believe in lean concepts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This place is like working in a third world country sweat shop. I have never seen a place managed like this, and I honestly believe I never will again. This job makes any bad job you may have had in your past look fantastic.

Current Employee - Production Supervisor in Fountain Inn, SC

I have been working at Faurecia full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

As a production supervisor you are paid well but if you do the math when you work 60+ hours a week and on salary you're pay isn't really all that great.

    Cons

Work 60+ hours a week. Hardly and family time. You're at work more than you're at home. Management gets away with DUI, license gets suspended and car is impounded then is given a company car where he frequents local bars. Their philosophy on leadership is to scare you into doing you're job without training you or providing adequate support. Lots of unprofessional language towards subordinates from management level. HR has done little to nothing to fix the complaints of the employees regarding this.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Needs to be reviewed at the Fountain Inn, SC plant because they feel they're untouchable and can do anything they want as mentioned above. If there were managers who actually cared to see the company succeed it would bra much better place to work. Instead, you have a bunch of foreigners from France and the UK come over as managers and act as if they're on vacation.

I worked at Faurecia full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good learning experience. Had opportunities to move around in various positions.

    Cons

Not much direction. Some managers were given responsibilities but no training, so they were not successful. Most people were looking for new jobs while I worked there. Turnover was high. Good place to work and get experience, but not really a place to have a long career.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Visit the plants more often.

I worked at Faurecia full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of potential to succeed in the market place, and lots of opportunity provided to those who can adapt to the working environment. Compensation is competitive for the market.

    Cons

Corporate culture is not conducive to a good work-life balance. Long in-office working hours are the norm for most people. Training & development are typically the first casualty when budgets need to be achieved. Management is very short term focused.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in people, and consider a more medium term approach to the business. We want to be here longer than then end of the next semester.

I worked at Faurecia full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

There are several knowledgeable managers. I dealt with several managers who were great leaders and very supportive. The company was an interesting and enjoyable place to work.

    Cons

There are some inexperienced managers that need training & experience to gain wisdom. There were young managers who could talk the talk but not walk the walk.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some upper management personnel were not open to the truth. I wanted to speak with one upper manager, but he seemed to not be interested in hearing negative feedback.

I have been working at Faurecia as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

Good pay. Good management to help you grow. Especially if your new to automotive.

    Cons

Different departments are behind in their work which hinders your ability to perform without mistakes. Expects too much from those who prove they are excellent workers.

Horrible compensation for interns. My advice for interns: do not go above and beyond because you will get nothing for your efforts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire younger managers that can show their abilities. Take chances with younger workers.

I worked at Faurecia full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Faurecia allows young people a chance to learn and grow within the company. Work hard, long hours, and comment to focus on work and Fauceria will be a great place to work. It's pleasing that Faurecia gives new young people the opportunity to work; while teaching them discipline on what it takes to work in a assembly plant.

    Cons

    Management changing all the time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs more compassion for the people rather than being pro active after incident happen.
