Worst experience of my life thus far.

I worked at FedEx

ProsBenefits, pay, co-workers, and it's a job.

ConsManagement is TERRIBLE. Work environment is HORRIBLE. No respect for your personal life. Management is INCOMPETENT.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your employees better, know your job, and stop just thinking about yourselves.

A solid, employee oriented company with great work-life balance and good pay/benefits relative to other industrial orgs.

Principal (Current Employee)
Memphis, TN

I have been working at FedEx

Pros-Relatively good pay.
- Good benefits: 401K, pension, PTO, medical-dental-vision, discounted airline travel, other little perks.
- Work-life balance
- Stability and job security
- Reputation as a top 100 employer
- Mobility across company and divisions

Cons- Slow and bureaucratic at times.
- Senior management more interested in empire building. Not much focus on efficiency.
- Slow to innovate- happy with status quo.
- Over-staffing (in some areas) resulting in bored under-utilized employees and fewer opportunities for upward growth.

Advice to Senior Management- Let us not rest on our past accolades and become too complacent. This is a high barrier-to-entry industry but we still need to focus on innovation, efficiency and speed in this era of global competition.

Happly hard at work

Package Handler (Current Employee)
Phoenix, AZ

I have been working at FedEx

ProsFast paced amd my co-workers and bosses are easy to get along with.

ConsThe heat is terrible , it would be alittle more bearile if there was a fan in my work area.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf a worker is good and hard working , not always tatteling crying and complaining. Don't ignore them leave alone to do the work of 3 people. without sending her someone to help out so they are not struggling to catch their breath . Instead reward them with more hours, and opportunities to learn more so they move up , to add their abilities , skills, and hardwork to help guide and motivate the other workers.

A great transitional/in between career in preparing for something better

Courier (Former Employee)
Irving, TX

I worked at FedEx

ProsGenerally independent work, driving a company delivery truck and meeting customers through out the day. There are clear standards and expectations of efficiency especially in the number of deliveries per hour, time between departing the warehouse and one's first delivery, etc.

ConsA new courier is limited to only part-time hours. It takes a few years, and only when senior couriers retire or move up, for full-time slots to become available. In addition, even with a part-time schedule, sometimes it is difficult to get a second occupation because the length of a work day depends on several factors: personal delivery times, when a shipment of packages from the airport arrives, logistical issues at HQ, etc.

Advice to Senior ManagementCreate a more fair system of promotion centered on results and integrity instead of favoritism.

not a best place to work for any more

IT Professional (Current Employee)
Collierville, TN

I have been working at FedEx

Prosinternal job transfers, customer focused

ConsThe company lost its charm during the recession. Reduced compensation, most of the employee benefits were removed, suspended 401k, laid off employees. All these happened during recession and then immediately hired lot of contractors. HR and senior management has to do a better job of keeping employees happy. If not it will be just another company and employee attrition may increase as the economy gets back to track.

ProsBeautiful facility/office, flexible start/end time

ConsMinimal holidays and vacation, extremely low pay comparitively, locked and limited opportunities once on inside, our specific department management does not allow same benefits of other departments around us such as unpaid days, work from home, flexible work schedule
