Pros
Overall it was a great place to work. The management was great. For an internship, the assignments were challenging. People are real friendly and easy to meet. In particular the managers in different departments. Once you get your foot in the door there are a lot of opportunities in many different areas of the company. There is job security.
Cons
Corporate environment that was a little to process oriented.

Advice to Senior Management
Pay better bonus to sales people who are the life blood of this company.
The company has had incredible gains since the 5% pay-cuts were taken, so give
that money back to the people who made it work!
Pros
money , hours , weekends off , decent pay , starts off at 10.25 and up with exp. inside track to post office
Cons
you get treated like crap if you dnt hit goa your getting screamed atl senoir mangment will write you up for every little thing
Advice to Senior Management
worry more about your people and not so much your own paychecks other people work in the building too you know
Pros
Job retention is semi stable.
Benefits are OK.
Flexible work schedules.
co-workers look out for each other.
Facilities are usually decent.
Cons
Management has no idea of what direction they are going. It seems most job time is spent figuring out ways to justify your job..... Productivity is very low. Management could care less if things are done right.
Advice to Senior Management
Streamline! Get experts in to assess how things could be done better (don't just use trial and error). Especially with Fedex Office Support.
Pros
the job opportunity is amazing
Cons
there a lot of people.
Pros
There are only a few good things about FedEx; good work life balance; good health care plan. Other people who don't know will think it looks good on your resume.
Cons
Management is incompetent to say the least, basic operations are beyond them. They have no ability to grow the business they only obtain business by means of customers who only know their name. They spent millions of dollars to change the colors of their logos, however their OS is from 1992.
Advice to Senior Management
Priorities, matching colors for your logo should come behind giving your employees up to date technology. Hire managers with experience outside of FedEx and in the field that they are going to manage in.
Pros
- Most people work 30-35 hrs per week
- High job security
- Good work environment
- Nice team work culture
Cons
- Salary is just comfortable and mostly the same for high, low and mediocre performers
- There is no career growth path
- Very low risk taking culture
- Every job is posted and people are interviewed. People who want to move forward spend more than half their time networking and other half creating interview packets. Promotion or career advancement is probably 20% dependent on skill and 80% on networking.
- Without promotions, which take on average about 5-10 years, the annual raises are about 1-3%. Yes the range is difference between significantly exceeding expectations and not meeting expectations
Advice to Senior Management
- Provide career advancement tracks for people
- Create a culture where people are focused on their current job and have access to training so that they can move to higher jobs. Current culture of people figuring out the process of upward movement over 5-6 years and 8-10 interviews is very wasteful of everyone's time.
- It is a waste of everyone's time to apply for job, get recommendations, update job application packets, research on new job, network for new job, setup mock interviews, interview for the job, get feedback on interview.
- Stop promoting a culture of mediocrity and implement some good pay for performance programs
Pros
FedEx offers extremely competitive salaries and benefits. Funding and resources are allocated sufficiently to meet the needs of critical projects.
Cons
Politics and personal agendas can get in the way of progress at times. There are not many promotional opportunities, especially for management and above. Some areas have to pull the weight for others.
Advice to Senior Management
Build a shared strategic vision and break down silos. Improve career development and promotional opportunities at all levels. Be willing to take risks.
