Advice to Senior Management
Speaking from the IT perspective. If you are in IT, look for an IT company. This place is cheap, does not provide tools and expects way to much from IT people. You just don't know what your job is.
Pros
opportunities, stability, co-workers, benefits, easy intra-company transfers
Cons
no meaningful recognition, title vs role doesn't match, average compensation,
Pros
internal job transfers, customer focused
Cons
The company lost its charm during the recession. Reduced compensation, most of the employee benefits were removed, suspended 401k, laid off employees. All these happened during recession and then immediately hired lot of contractors. HR and senior management has to do a better job of keeping employees happy. If not it will be just another company and employee attrition may increase as the economy gets back to track.
Advice to Senior Management
HR and senior management has to do a better job of keeping employees happy. If not it will be just another company and employee attrition may increase as the economy gets back to track
Pros
Generally independent work, driving a company delivery truck and meeting customers through out the day. There are clear standards and expectations of efficiency especially in the number of deliveries per hour, time between departing the warehouse and one's first delivery, etc.
Cons
A new courier is limited to only part-time hours. It takes a few years, and only when senior couriers retire or move up, for full-time slots to become available. In addition, even with a part-time schedule, sometimes it is difficult to get a second occupation because the length of a work day depends on several factors: personal delivery times, when a shipment of packages from the airport arrives, logistical issues at HQ, etc.
Advice to Senior Management
Create a more fair system of promotion centered on results and integrity instead of favoritism.
Pros
It is a Stable company, No layoffs
Cons
Low Salary. No upward growth
Advice to Senior Management
Morale is low because of substandard salaries
Pros
Beautiful facility/office, flexible start/end time
Cons
Minimal holidays and vacation, extremely low pay comparitively, locked and limited opportunities once on inside, our specific department management does not allow same benefits of other departments around us such as unpaid days, work from home, flexible work schedule
Advice to Senior Management
Ensure same benefits between op-co's
Pros
collegial environment, work-life balance and good opportunities to move laterally to work in different departments
Cons
too much bureaucracy, information sharing and knowledge management system still lacking, promotional opportunities are scarce
Pros
Committment to Employees, strategy for growth internationally
Cons
Stressed economy makes for creative ways to do more with less.
