Pros
The management is very supportive of your personal life and advancements.
Cons
You don't always get your desired amount of hours per week.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up what you're doing.
Pros
It's got great benefits and decent job security
Cons
Upper management sees bottom lines, not people.
Advice to Senior Management
Take an interest in your people and their job satisfaction!
Pros
Great Pay and great schedule
Cons
Some immature management but to be expected
Advice to Senior Management
Be more interested in making customers happy and less on share price
Pros
Great pay, decent benefits, great co-workers to work with, a paycheck every week (not bi-weekly)
Cons
Inconsistent on the times you get off, it could be 4, 6, or even up to 12 hour shifts. So if you have a normally tight schedule (such as school, or another job that starts in the morning), you might want to think about it before applying. You get quite dirty as well.
Advice to Senior Management
When telling an employee to do something, ask if they might need help doing the task (like picking up toppled skids, or moving a bunch of skids). It is greatly appreciated.
Pros
Drivers are professional and take pride in their work, dock workers are mostly competent and some are very knowledgeable. Terminal manager is a strong and dedicated leader.
Cons
Low pay. Maddeningly low level of professionalism and effort amongst office staff. Too many corners cut regarding safety. Insufficient facilities. Remarkably understaffed. Excessively complex computer systems. Excessive and redundant reporting on a daily basis. You will be doing a significant amount of manual labor. If you want to move up in the company, it will absolutely involve relocation (could be a "pro" for some). Overall too much bad and not enough good.
Advice to Senior Management
Practice what you preach, and do things the right way. Too many people out on long-term disability, these are red flags.
Pros
Great place to work, team atmosphere. Management worked right along side with office staff. Open door policy. Great training and ongoing training for updates.
Cons
Hard to get fulltime employment if office staff - few positions available. May have to work more hours depending on location of service center due to weather conditions, ex: snow and ice.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep communications lines open with employees across the board so everyone can be a part of providing the best freight service available, while also keeping employees happy and satisfied with their jobs and performance levels will stay high.
Pros
There are leadership programs for advancement
Cons
Employment and salary decisions are based on seniority instead of performance
Advice to Senior Management
Management be sensitive towards your employees
Pros
Good pay and benefits. Excellent equipment and uniforms. No weekend work except if you volunteer. Overall good place to work.
Cons
Merger with fedex national is coming up. Not enough communication with employees. Too many rumors going around and not enough facts.
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate more. Need more info to all employees to keep down on lies and rumors. Need more meetings to eliminate this problem.
Pros
good job. good company to work for
Cons
none. good place to work
Advice to Senior Management
stay on top of underperformers and get rid of them
Pros
better than average pay, very good benefits, employees generally look out for each other, vacation time off is easy to be used
Cons
get rid of the good ole boy situation, treat everyone equally, need to review and adjust "reasons for termination, management needs to treat hourly people like they are needed, handbook rules need to apply to all employees evenly
Advice to Senior Management
an out of service tag on the door of a truck won't prevent an accident if other employees disregard other safety precautions are ignored, to terminate a six year employee over a door tag is trivial.
