I have been working at FedEx Freight part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Paid well for a job that requires no past experience, work is mostly unsupervised unless they see you do somethingwrong, very good benefits for a part time job

    Cons

hard work doesn't getyou promoted, being friends with the supers does, you'll get screwed when freight is slow (as few as 2-3 hours day ifyou're used to 6), only 2nd and 3rd shifts are available as a dockworker, hard to move up

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

make more full time positions, and reward hard work instead of thesupervisors buddies.

Could be decent if they'd properly staff the centers.

I have been working at FedEx Freight full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good job for learning the stresses and demands of a salaried leadership position. Benefits are good. Good co-workers.

    Cons

Decent pay, but does not match the work. When broken down, supervisors make less per hour than those they supervise. (and that's only considering the hours you are scheduled to work) Rather than hiring, they make salaried employees work longer days to cover for missing employees with absolutely no recognition or extra pay. (Paid for "50 hr week" and you eventually begin to view a 50 hr week as a gift from above.) Seems as though they feel that we're getting by like this, so why hire more? You don't know you're working a 12-16 hr day until your scheduled 10 hrs are almost over. Call in sick one time and you are belittled and insulted over the phone, along with having your job threatened. Push safety and quality all the while telling you to push your employees almost to the breaking point because they are not moving fast enough.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Properly staff the centers and pay your supervisors. You know there is an issue when hourly employees laugh at possible promotions because they don't want to work more hours under more pressure for less pay and be blamed for all problems.("Heck no, I don't want to become a supervisor! I see how they treat you guys.") When you tell people you want them to prosper and advance their careers, allow them the opportunities to learn the skills and knowledge to do so.

    Pros

Good benefits, Stable company that you can possibly grow with. Reputable with others. Hiring process was not too difficult.

    Cons

Very strict on rules. As with most companies, you have to put in your time to get a good position, but I think it's worth it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate with employees, esp when there are issues

I have been working at FedEx Freight full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Decent pay and benefits weekends off and most holidays .

    Cons

Hours and busy times chew the day up

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let the younger rookies go out and make mistakes that's how they learn it isn't always about numbers and who's center is doing better,The shifts and hours of work need to change for the years of experience one has 10 years plus should be starting at 6-7 in am and ending their day at 3-5pm not everybody is 25 years old and pushing the older guys with experience is killing some of us.

I have been working at FedEx Freight full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

This list has gotten smaller over the last 8 years.

    Cons

Long work days. No common sense from leadership. Transportation Department is not properly educated on how to move freight in efficient manner. Work/life balance is no where to be seen. This company only " takes care of" the almighty investors!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the people doing the job. Things change, as you always say. So it has changed since, or if, you did this job. Property staff the workplace, get of the number matrix. Hire mechanics that know what they are doing and hire more of them.

I have been working at FedEx Freight full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Strong company which allows for mobility around their different divisions

    Cons

Compensation can be better for supervisors. There is a strong lack of training and development for supervisors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to focus on career development for their supervisors. Considering the conditions and times of business, compensation should be better.
