I have been working at FedEx Freight West part-time

    Pros

FedEx is a great company to work for. They offer competitive pay, flexible hours for school, and Tuition reimbursement. GO APPLY

    Cons

Moving up within the company depends on how well you can get along with the managers. Favoritism is definitely apparent on the dock.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to stop being so bias to their workers. People should be rated based on experience and what strengths they have. Not about how much they can suck up to them.

    Pros

Hourly positions are more than generous, as far as pay is concerned

    Cons

Few options to progress in the company if one does not pursue a college education

    Advice to Management

Management should be more involved in the implementation of new and effective ways to improve efficiency.

I worked at FedEx Freight West part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

great benefits, room for growth and opportunities, managerial staff very helping and willing to improve your skills. pay was above average.

    Cons

the hours you worked varied from day to day. there was not a set schedule. sometimes the payroll checks were late being delivered,

    Advice to Management

give more hours to the hard workers and not the ones who did not give it their best effort.

I worked at FedEx Freight West full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

FedEx is a large company which offers opportunities for advancement in management "IF" you come to the company with the education and experience and fully prepared to move up.

    Cons

Drivers and loaders are at the mercy of the latest corporate whim..FedEx will open and close facilities and terminals at the drop of a hat..giving little or no notice to employees and totally disregarding the loyalty of employees and the stresses placed on families...Be prepared to move like a gypsy..Don't invest in a home or plan to have your kids finish school in a specific area...FedEx demands loyalty but does NOT reciprocate except to a select few who play golf with the supervisors and managers...

    Advice to Management

Have the guts to stand up and do the right thing when your supervisors and district managers and human resources personnel collude to cover up their actions to protect a employee who wears military insignia on your uniforms and lies about his military service...In my case, I secured the poser's military record which consisted of his discharge after just two weeks of Navy boot camp..He couldn't even finish basic training..but, he golfed with the supervisors and regional managers..

    Pros

Great people a\nd company values at that time.

    Cons

Company in transition, west location is now closed. Do not have the knowledge of current leadership team.

    Advice to Management

West is now managed by a new team, I am not familiar with that leadership.

  8. It's just a job, not a career

    Pros

average pay for the industry good benefits FedEx appears to be committed to staying in the LTL industry, overall good job security

    Cons

LOTS of politics, if you're "in" with the right people you have nothing to worry about, if you're not, management can make coming to work miserable. Employees (hourly and low level managers) are treated as easily replaceable pieces of equipment. It is NOT a team effort, each group is pitted against the others with inconsistent goals (dock vs. drivers vs. dispatch vs. ...) The goal of management is NOT to service the customers, it is to get a good "score" on internal audits. Managers advance by undercutting those around them.

    Advice to Management

Take feedback and constructive criticism seriously. When an issue about a manager is brought up, a typical response is "No, 'John' would never do that." Most concerns are simply dismissed as untrue, while managers tend to make snap decisions without attempting to gather information. This promotes employee disengagement. When a service center consistently ranks at the bottom year after year in the annual internal survey, it's not because we "misunderstood the questions." Morale begins with management.

    Pros

The pay is about mediocre for warehouse workers

    Cons

Demanded a lot with no management support

    Advice to Management

    Better management communication and objectives

    Pros

The support and sincerity of supervisors and management make this an optimal place to work. The recognize hard work, yet are concerned during tough personal times.

    Cons

The weather can be tough as the dock area is not climate controlled. So, summers can be sweltering, and winters blistering on some days.

    Advice to Management

You're doing a great job supporting dock workers continue that and production will continue to rise.
