Pros
Sense of pride, good pay, nice workout.
Cons
Very hard to keep pace at times, can be frustrating. Non negotiable pay.
Advice to Senior Management
Plan far ahead and cover every aspect of the sort in order to ensure an evenly distributed workload throughout the entire shift so that every package gets paid attention to more, and no parts of the terminal are over worked, because they need to be at an equilibrium for the upmost efficiency. This includes but is not limited to: Better quality packages, ergo less damages and less company payout, better package placement by handlers because they aren't severely rushed, and less closures from misplaced packages, also there would be less people quitting for stress, saving the company even more time and money. We all need to do our part to make this company grow and meet our customers' expectations.
Pros
excellent perks and discounts with partners
occasional doughnuts leftover after the sort
$1500/year for school
$0.30 raise after 30 days
$0.30 raise after 60 days
Cons
package handlers are disposable
very high injury rate
high turnover rate
goals and expectations from package handlers are not achievable
Advice to Senior Management
senior service managers should know the actual numbers that they are dealing with and the actual capabilities of their package handlers
Pros
If you're looking for a fast-paced job where you can earn a decent amount, enough to live on, with little other than a low level commercial drivers license this is the p[lace for you. It is also good for those who prefer to work alone.
Cons
The daily pay scale can make it a bit rough. Since you are technically employed by a contractor he will try to get the most work humanly possible out of you for the least pay (since he is paid per delivery/pickup vs. you by the day).
Pros
Great benefits, flexible work hours, salary is relatively good.
Cons
Bureaucratic, not a lot of room to grow or work your way up the ladder.
Pros
As you progress there are many opportunities to excel, but you will be limited if you are not self motivated. Like most companies you must be aggressive to get the promotions. You cannot sit around and believe that the amount of time put in makes you the best candidate. The company does also care about family and handles situations with heart.
Cons
For some it could be the hard work. The vast majority of the jobs are very hard work. This is the customer service industry and meeting the customers needs can be difficult. The hours are also tough because there are very few jobs with a normal time frame. Most are either early morning or late night. Salary can also be a little low if you are not aggressive in your negotiations.
Advice to Senior Management
There is an enormous amount of training available but you do need to go to it. Not all of it is going to come to you. The leaders are straight forward and honest, which may be difficult for some.
Pros
Pay and benefits are good.
Cons
Many young engineers, not much opportunity to advance.
Pros
Job security is great good place to work if you are willing to work hard and show up every day
Cons
No benefits for part time employees
Pros
Very competitive wages. Great place to work. Great support system.
Cons
Early hours, some extra hours needed.
Advice to Senior Management
More flexibility needed. More transparency.
Pros
Very pleased working in the company. Enormous growth opportunities. Benefits a plus.
Cons
Work is stressful, fast paced not for the thin skinned
Pros
Awesome management, awesome coworkers, and you get paid every week. It's all about teamwork and that's what we have down here in Pittsburgh. And another great thing is you get paid every week!
Cons
It's a very fast paced place to work it's very cold in the winter hot in the summer, a few slow people throw off the whole sort cause other people have to pick up the slack for them. And you can have late nights getting out of here around 11 so you have to be able to work flexible hours.
Advice to Senior Management
Management at FedEx Ground does a great job of getting a message across and they communicate very well to the workplace. But communication could be a little better but for the most part they do a great job!
