Pros
FedEx Ground is a great place to work. They mainly promote from within which gives current employees a better shot at moving up in the company. The benefits are outstanding and part-time workers get benefits also. I think management could be a little more professional.
Cons
The promotion process should be refined. I don't think that they promote the right people. Some facilities still operate under the "buddy system".
Advice to Senior Management
Take time to evaluate your employees. Award those that go above and beyond the call of duty. Do away with the "buddy system" and eliminate the managers that are INCOMPETENT!!!
Pros
I work on the inbound sort loading vans. most of the employees are fun to work with. We're expected to work quickly, but the fast pace makes time go by fast. The benefits package is definitely a plus.
Cons
Sometimes it's impossible to keep up with the flow of packages. Peak is especially tough when it comes to loading vans. You have to stay after the sort if you ever want to get close to the maximum 30 hours. Management seems to forget about the package handlers' limits sometimes.
Advice to Senior Management
Pace the sort more evenly. Listen to our ideas and make the requested changes on the van line-up/ work area assignments. Some of us have way too much of a workload and others have very little.
Pros
Very rewarding work day. Promotions are mostly done in house.
Cons
Overwhelming work load during peak season.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to push for FedEx Ground to be a leading operating company within FedEx.
Pros
Good pay, mostly great benefits, fair treatment from managers creating a good cohesive atmosphere to work in. Creativity and ideas welcome
Cons
sometimes. like anywhere, communication between departments can be lacking
Advice to Senior Management
It is beneficial to all involved to take a minute to think things though before taking action
Pros
-Benifits after 1000 hours(FULL)
-Easy to get time off except during peak season. You will be there everyday all of November and December. You do get the holidays off but no exstended vacation.
-Paid vacation
-25 cent raise at 1 3 6 and 9months and 50 cents at 1 year and every year after.
-Work hard and become a good package handler, you will get noticed and will get more hours.
-promote from within. Makes managers easy to work with and are really god people.
Cons
-Work load can vary. Light and quick days or very heavy and long days. Your assingment may be worse than others and may not get help.
-Other workers can be slow, thus giving you a bigger work load. They will need help.
-A person can load 400/hr everyday and build great walls and never break a safety rule and another can load 200/hr build horrible walls, throw boxes and break rules constantly and whine all the time. The pay is the same. Not much can be done sometimes to make this improve. Management does try though.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing what your doing. But find more ways to reward the hardest workers. Mainly the ones that have been there a while. It can be very hard working in the trailers and bringing it for that long.
Pros
it was high paying think less job it was flexible with hours so i was able to finish school soon.
Cons
hard labor, didn't get to interact with co workers benefits take a long time to get and you never get praise for your hardwork
Advice to Senior Management
work your butt off and work there a long time you might just make it to the top level position which is good.
Pros
if you are the type of person who wants a job where you come to work, do your job, then go home. Then this is definely the job for you. Yes! You will have to bust your hump but you will gain muscle and lose weight in the process. Benefits a great after 1000hrs. and the longer you stick around the more respect the managers will give you and they will actually pull for you to get a promotion.
Cons
Yes! You will be sore after work. And there are managers who will bust your balls repeatively but keep in mind their bosses who are riding them creating their beast like mentality. It's intense especially during peak season. And it's very difficult to get a promotion. I went up for promotion twice a s a 6 year veteran and was turned down twice and the jobs I was applying for were given to newbies with no experience and were clearly lazy dirtbags. There is no logic in this.
Advice to Senior Management
You need to listen to your warehouse managers who are in the thick of it with the package handlers all day. I was employed for 6 years with FedEx Ground and was turned down twice for promotion even with 4 or sometimes 5 managers recommending me. Seriously though, I've seen many scum of the earth promoted within the warehouse and they almost never last.
Pros
Great money for part time/young employees
Cons
Hard work, not for everyone
Advice to Senior Management
Were not ignorant dock workers, we understand more than you think.
Pros
Many opportunities for advancement if you work hard, communicate well, are willing to relocate, and don't complain.
Cons
Work/life balance is difficult because of the hours.
Advice to Senior Management
Compensation needs to be greater for QA, Service Managers, and Sort Managers.
Pros
Financially steady and has a clear vision and strategy as to where the company is going.
Cons
They could provide better benefits by negotiating for the whole of Fedex and pay more.
Advice to Senior Management
Appreciate hard working people and show your appreciation by means of money. That is what counts in the end.
