    I worked at FedEx Office part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Learned a lot about different types of printing services and how produce them. I enjoyed learning about the shipping department. The coworkers were really great to get to know and we all worked as a team (I don't think all FXO's are like this though).

    Cons

    It's very "corporate"- which some people like. Personally, I get the job done fast and accurately, but I don't like to be micromanaged in the process of doing so.

    Have a little more confidence in your employees and focus more on customer service.

    sub-par pay
    Difficulty to use your sick time.
    Work load.
    Manager never communicate via email. They are strongly discourage to leave paper trail behind.

    Team member handbook rules have double meaning. Without a law degree it is not possible to make policies work in your favor.

    Pros

    good corporate environment, room for growth and development. I was promoted from a part time customer service rep to store manager in a matter of two years

    Cons

    I was there during the transition from Kinko's to Fedex Office. There were lots of negative changes. The company went from being a smallish company to a huge machine.

    Bring back the small company culture, where store managers are free to run the store based on their customer's needs,

    Our services are from average to below average in quality and expensive. Not easy to sell for this company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    To become a legitimate print vendor, buy some legitimate printing equipment. Stop outsourcing everything and Invest in real equipment at the center level. Staff the centers appropriately, consultants hate their job because they are overworked and underpaid and provide lousy service because of this. The quality of your cannon machines are absolute garbage, go back to Xerox.

    Pros

    As an Assistant Manager you are able to learn various forms of business management. From e-commerce, to competitive sales techniques and managing our teams properly in order to hit our monthly sales plans.

    Cons

    The hourly pay for Assistant Managers is just not enough considering the high stress work environment and aggressive metrics we must meet.

    Training should not be relied solely on web videos.

    As a manager you are required to be a specialist in logistics, retail and manufacturing while consistently ensuring 99.9% execution on close to 18 metrics with minimal help.
