I have been working at FedEx

    Pros

Excellent team like atmosphere; work with some really good people. Managers are accessible and willing to provide new opportunities.

    Cons

Must keep rather odd hours. Depending of your particular role during a sort the physical labor can be pretty depleting.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to promote from within. It encourages employees to take a more active role and seek new responsibilities. It also serves to boost morale.

I worked at FedEx full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

You work with a great team, the salary and benefits are excellent. They almost always promote from within, although the road getting there can be pretty tough (as it should be). You really get to have an impact on your employees' lives, and you can feel like you're part of a family if you stick around long enough.

    Cons

No home life whatsoever. Some very hard choices have to be made at the end of the fiscal year when suddenly budgets shrink and everyone at the corporate level wants you to do more with less. High octane, high stress environment with little to no downtime. They give you a laptop and a cell phone and you had better be attached to them 24/7. High turnover rate among managers, who seem to get fired extraordinarily easily.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get more involved, give more incentive to keep operations managers around rather than letting them do their two years just to transfer out again when they get burned out. Seeing Ops Managers come and go is absolutely toxic to morale and really cuts deep when trying to push the whole "family" atmosphere that upper management wants to push. A little constancy goes a long way.

I have been working at FedEx

    Pros

If you are not the type of person who wants to get a four year degree then start from the bottom, but rather, join the workforce at a reasonable wage, Fedex is a great place to work with great job security

    Cons

It is a physical job and you are outside 90% of the time so weather conditions must be considered before accepting a position
