I have been working at FedEx part-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Interline discounts haven't changed other than 6mos certification on dress code and conduct as a representative.

    Cons

Higher out of pocket health costs, retirement contribution match not what it used to be, takes longer to top out. New hires earn almost as much starting than 10 yr employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Know the job you are managing so you can lead by example, developing and recognizing strengths rather than weaknesses. Look toward engaging good workers, rewarding excellence instead of praising and encouraging mediocrity in the workplace. Enable visionary team support instilling pride and trust. Eliminate negativity, competition and rivalry which breeds contempt in the workplace as in hour distribution. Focus on the talent in your workgroup and how they are best served.

I have been working at FedEx part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

It's basically a work out for 4 to 5 hours straight. Be prepared to get very sweaty and dirty. I work with many good people. Management is awesome and even helps when lines get backed up and there is only 1 loader in the trucks. I love the fact we only work 4 to 5 hours a night but there is no way you could work this job doing 40 hours a week. By the end of every night, you'll feel like you just got done doing an obstacle course after doing a 5 mile run. Must be in shape.

    Cons

The pay where is I work is crappy. This particular location starts out at 8.92 an hour but you get raises every two months for the first 6 months. Be prepared to get injured ALOT and come home with many bruises. Trucks collect ice in the winter and the entire cabin is a skating rink so there is lots of slipping and pulling muscles. On occasion, loaders work a truck on their own, but the sorters send boxes down as if there are two loaders in a truck. The expectation is to load 400 boxes an hour and it doesn't matter what size and weight they are. Packages come in all shapes, sizes, and weights.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give us a pay increase of a couple of dollars or at least match what other Fed Ex locations are paying. Why is the pay so different where we are? Someone should look into that. It would take me 3 to 5 years to make what some of these other package handlers are making starting out.

    Pros

Pros: Very easy job considering it is manual labor. FedEx does a great job of staying up to speed on technologies that help improve employee efficiency

    Cons

Taking off work is a hassle, no cohesion between management, Very few cons, but it is an overall decent place to work

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be in one accord in decision making process
