    Lousy management

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGreat colleagues but too many analysts were fresh out of college which hurt quality of work. Consulting group produced great work for top tier Fortune 100 clients.

ConsHigh turnover. Management disconnected from products and services. Tough market for commodity market research services.

Executive management team lacks leadership, personal integrity, and competency.

    Senior Account Executive (Current Employee)
    McLean, VA

ProsGreat product offering....best in market at current price point (before deltek price fixing)
Good staff...hard working, honest, compassionate staff who care about clients
Great benefits...best in class; company pays 90%!

    ConsJob is constantly in jeopardy...
Promotions are based on personal preferences, not competency or performance...
Leadership is like sailing in a rudderless boat.....there is no clear direction or mission

Advice to Senior ManagementClearly define company mission and objectives.
Implement a strategic plan and share it with staff.
Practice fariness and ehtics when making hire/fire decisions.

You learn a lot but very low salary and no room for growth

    Market Intelligence Analyst (Current Employee)
    McLean, VA

Pros-Learn a lot about government procurement
    -Flexible work schedules
    -Decent benefits
    -Friendly people
    -interesting research

    Cons-very low salary
-little chance of being promoted into another department
-upper management claims that analysts are valued and important, but they don't really show us
-other than mini promos not much chance of making decent money there
-gets old doing the same thing everyday
-treat analysts differently from cde's...seem to value them more
-Working in Tysons is a pain with all the traffic
-You end up covering for people a lot
-Turn over is extremely high, someone quits at least once a month, they can't seem to keep anyone working there b/c the salary sucks
-They are always "reorganizing", lots of "layoffs" for upper execs

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't claim that employees are important, show them by paying them better money
Listen to employee suggestions more, don't patronize so much
Stop hiring people that are ready to quit within three months or less
    Hire managers with more experience

Seemed like a very good place to start off but one needs to move on quickly

    Market Research Analyst (Former Employee)
    McLean, VA

Pros- A great intro to the local IT and procurement environment (meeting players and systems)
    - Depending on your dep't., entrepreneurial spirit could be high and rewarded (position and salary)
    - Several intelligent, interesting and nice colleagues
    - A couple of nice employee parties per year
    - An annual United Way collection drive
    - Nice facilities and solid benefits

Cons- Location - traffic and inability to walk and grab a lunch (it's an isolated building)
    - In 3 years, did not get a single formal, well structured performance review
    - Very high turn over (around 50% a year)
    - Very little structure and no formal employee development
    - Was praised verbally only to be 180 degree blind sided in writing a bit later
    - Some employees may have gotten ahead through inappropriate means
    - While on review/probation, received an email from a company employee that contained a virus that wiped out all my documents and thus made my project late :)

Advice to Senior ManagementHonest and open communication in writing
    Much, much, much more structure

Do your homework before accepting a job here

    Market Research Analyst (Current Employee)
    McLean, VA

ProsGood experience. Bagles and cream cheese on Fridays.

ConsUnder paid. Over worked. I worked during lunch breaks and only one bathroom break with "you're not doing enough work" attitude from imediate supervisor.
On my first day, an admin gave us 3" binders, told us to fill out the forms, and walked off. That certainly did not set the tone for a welcome to the company orientation.
Most personnel are 30 years old or younger.

Advice to Senior ManagementMiddle and upper management are clueless as to what analyst are up again. Give analyst the respect they deserve and compensate them appropiately, but not by underpaying them.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

    There are Pros and Cons.

    Market Research Analyst (Current Employee)
    McLean, VA

ProsIt is a good place to start off. You learn about Government procurement. You receive an introductory level of knowledge of the Defense Industry.

ConsWork can become mundane. There is very little room for growth within company. This is not a long term position.

Advice to Senior ManagementI think that if the workers were allowed to be on some type of telecommuting plan, moral would be higher. Give more respect to the analysts.

    Disorganized and unprofessional

    Analyst (Current Employee)

ProsSmall company so people get to know each other very well.

ConsLack of communication between management and analysts. Little respect is given to analysts in comparison to the different divisions and members of the company. Management and company in general is very disorganized. Company culture is entirely too relaxed for a workplace, thus inappropriate dress and language is common. Not an intellectual environment, so professional and personal growth is severely hindered. Compensation is sub market standards.

Advice to Senior ManagementCommunicate better with each other and with employees. Create a professional workplace that helps employee development. Create policies and obey by them.
