    Pros

The flexibility with my daily schedule is great. The amount of time off we get is also hard to beat. Salary is generous.

    Cons

There's not much diversity in the workplace, and there's not much pressure from management to change that even though there is a lot of talk from the national and regional offices. The lack of funding to get anything really accomplished makes day to day operations workable, but not any specific projects that would accomplish the bigger mission.

    Advice to Management

There's too many decision makers, and not enough workers these days. If you'd spend more effort advancing the temporary full time employees you have to permanent positions instead of trying to recruit more from the outside, you'd have a more loyal workforce.

    Pros

New challenges daily; problem mitigation; travel in support of programs; Integrated Product Team; no two customers have the same requirements; working within those requirements

    Cons

    excessive management reporting requirements; US procurement laws are very difficult, then management adds requirements locally to those; redundant local management requirement; obsolete office capability; standardized IT capability outdated;

    Advice to Management

ease off on the reporting requirements; if you really want to know about project details in depth... ask you will get much better info than the approved template reporting you require.

  6. Wonderful work environment.

    Pros

Self scheduling, Federal holidays and all the latest equipment and technology for the patient's benefit. If it will heal or make the length of stay better for the patient and their families by even one day, the cost is not too great. This is where you want to bring your loved one's for their care, because the staff really take care of you 24/7.

    Cons

the parking has been bad since before the beginning of time and with the addition of all the new facilities and buildings, it has not gotten any better. This hospital loses great staff because they get very frustrated being told that they can't park on base and that they have to pay out of pocket to come to work.

    Advice to Management

The addition of parking garages is a must as wells as the forethought to cutting edge facilities. If you build it, they will come!

  9. Flexible work environment. Many layers of bureaucracy.

    Pros

Decent pay for an opportunity to do what I love. Excellent opportunity to meet a diverse group of individuals and learn how each is and wants to be perceived.

    Cons

Very little latitude and poor management practices.

    Advice to Management

Be more personable and less pretentious.

    Pros

The work is interesting and I have a lot of freedom to handle cases the way I want to at the administrative level. The type of work takes years of practice to learn all the nuances, so it stays interesting and never gets dull. There are great opportunities to move around the world, if I choose.

    Cons

Sometimes I don't have control of cases when they get to federal court. The bureaucracy can be quite dusnting, at times. Salaries are limited to pay scales and not necessarily based on one's work, though the salaries are good.
