Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) University Park, IL

ProsDecent pay unless you start now in the union, very friendly co-workers in most areas, understanding immediate supervisors, and the feeling that knowing your good work is keeping people safe.

ConsTerrible HR, terrible union, terrible labor relations that harm the company as well as the worker, and most of all terrible middle and upper management.

Advice to Senior ManagementIt's not the 1930s anymore. Wake up and step forward finally instead of importing more from China as your solution to increase profit margins.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    The Ship Is Going Down

Mid Level Manager (Former Employee) Chicago, IL

    ProsOK Benefits.
    Reasonable work hours.
    Reasonable salary.

ConsThe company is destined for breakup. The parts are more valuable then the whole, and the decentralized management systems do not work. There is disarray, and a lack of direction among senior management. The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. With that disarray, you have a free-for-all with mid-level-management playing by their own rules. Too many managers, who won't roll their sleeves up and get dirty, and not enough "line" workers, which causes resentment among the rank and file. CEO is out of touch, and the mass exodus of mid-level and some senior management is evidence of that. Somehow, he has shareholders convinced he has a "plan". Where's the proof?

Advice to Senior ManagementAccept the fact that the business is not going to grow, the culture is not going to get better, and product quality is going to continue to deterioriate. Once you accept that, make a decision -- go down with the ship, or jump while you can.......

The worst company I have ever worked for

QA Engineer (Former Employee) Austin, TX

ProsIt was interesting to know what happens when a car goes through a toll booth and what happens to charge the owner of the car for the toll. The web based application had lots of different options to learn.

ConsLong hours and panic fixes lead to bad work life balance. Salary is way below market. There is little to no communication. Things are sprung on you at the last minute. No training available.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop treating your employees like mushrooms. You need to communicate more and give some incentives. And let them not have to work on the weekends once in a while.

This company is as good as your manager in turn

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsDecent salary, good benefits, opportunity to learn and grow if you land with the right manager.

ConsManagement changes every two weeks, no sense of "Team Play" between departments at all.

Advice to Senior ManagementEducate your supervisors, and show real interest for the people at the bottom. See around you and notice that the managers loved by that people are the ones that last longer.

    Can't be trusted

    Anonymous (Former Employee)

ProsDecent products, people other than management

ConsDishonest management. Management only concerned with lining their pockets. Political. This could be a great company but the management at all levels are more concerned with lining their pockets and hiding behind their position to belittle others GS.

Advice to Senior ManagementWork to make the company great rather than take all you can. Retire, you are holding this company back. Dump the guy with the little-man's syndrome.

This company is doing well...on the backs of the workers at the bottom

Union Production Employee (Current Employee) University Park, IL

ProsRegular work hours, good pay(unless you're union hired after the last contract), insurance, 401k, paid vacations

ConsThis company adheres to the low moral standards that are common in corporate America today. (Greed before people)

Advice to Senior ManagementWhy bother offering suggestions to a body that never really listens anyway

Good company buts lots of changes

Supervisor (Current Employee) University Park, IL

ProsPeople at the plant level are great and through some of the ranks. Old leadership really cared and knew something about everyone. Over years, senior leadership driven by the dollar vs social responsibility of the people who they effect.

ConsCompany goes thru periods when really good but lots of change and hard to hold onto good talent.

Advice to Senior ManagementPeople are your most important peice of business

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

ConsProducts are so out of date they need investment to fix.

Advice to Senior ManagementGood staff and people. Need better management.
