Pros
benefits
good pay
tuition reimbursment
pretty good hours
Cons
dealing with customers on the phone
Advice to Senior Management
change the attendence policy to accommodate the employees
Pros
Strong company, great benefits, it's a physical job and you basically get paid to work out. There are few jobs where you can work part time and receive full benefits.
Cons
Toxic environment when the trucks are running. Typical corporate bs.
Advice to Senior Management
Handling teams should have team leaders and the handlers should have specific job assignments.
Pros
Benefits, pay, experience gained, good brand name, well known company
Cons
Upper management has a brute force mentality - no finesse at all. I don't even think they care.
Instead of supporting management with hard facts, engineers are wielding influence with data and flawed logic.
Company has gone beyond frugal - now they are just plain cheap, and focus on lowest cost rather than the best management tools/techniques.
Result is that upper management is on a constant witch hunt.
Too many "yes men". Everyone is afraid to tell the Emperors (of which there are many) that they have no clothes.
Advice to Senior Management
Read all of these reviews carefully, and take them seriously. People have written them to help others, as well as you. They are not just venting. Ask consulting firms how other companies treat their people. De-leverage the bean counters by asking them for facts rather than technical interpretation/analysis/opinions. Get fresh ideas and approaches by rotating management now and then.
On the positive side - Although management does place a lot of pressure on people, it is always respectful and rarely demeaning or mean to people. The workplace is generally friendly - nothing like union shops like UPS and the Post Office. People at FedEx do get along. At least for now.
Pros
Family insurance and school tuition brings and retains people.
Cons
Hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
Advice to Senior Management
Put up a suggestion box to solict input from your most valuable resource....your people!
Pros
benefits package is very comprehensive
Cons
work with incompetent people at times,
Pros
Highly Employee oriented.
A large and well known organisation.
Cons
highly employee oriented. very high expectations.
Needs to provide more authority and control to the management in coordinating the actions.
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to understand the importance of keeping the right people in the bus and throwing off those not required.
Pros
The people you work with are exceptional, professional, and friendly. I have loved working there part-time while studying as a full-time student at BYU. The work is always fast-paced and the variety of work keeps things interesting every day.
Cons
I cannot think of any, unless you have trouble lifting heavy packages...
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing what you are doing! You are exceptional communicators and managers of change!
Pros
The pay and benefits for part time employees are fantastic. I'm a student and I get full medical and dental coverage.
Cons
Management could do a better job explaining the big picture.
Advice to Senior Management
Management could do a better job explaining the big picture.
Pros
Great benefits, even for part-time. Guaranteed pay. Good management for the most part. Tuition reimbursement offered.
Cons
Takes a long time to get promoted. Long hours. Boring.
Advice to Senior Management
Help the younger generation to become the higher ups of FedEx.
Pros
A set work schedule - Matching 401k, Basic HMO, Seperate Prescription Insurance - Relative freedom to manage courier duties on-road (i.e. stops, pups/pux)
Cons
Miscommunication from Dispatch / Manager can ruin your day - All responsibilities fall on Couriers shoulders, even if you aren't at fault - Algorithm for Stops p Hr - Lack of proper equipment: Uniforms, Buckets, Stickers, DBox Supplies - Unassigned trucks so first come first serve - Workgroup issues can either help or hurt your advancement
Advice to Senior Management
A manager is expected to help couriers / handlers efficiently work not hinder it. Personal issues can discourage and sometimes that one missing person can affect the entire station, esp. during the sort. On the road, use of PowerPads is strongly encouraged but when problems arise or a courier asks Dispatch of assistance - nobody seems to be available? Then what exactly is the point of asking?
