Saturday Work isn;t the funnest
Pros
Great hours for going to school during the day. Tuition reimbursement is annual at $3000. Health, vision and dental insurance is good for a student. Pay is good for the work and the hours. Overall, you work in a warehouse and your manager and team members make a huge difference in how enjoyable it can be; if you do not like your current crew just wait a few weeks and it will probably change.
Cons
limited growth, unless of course you want to be a manager or move to a different location. Almost all of the professional careers within fedex express are in memphis. Raises are not based on how hard you work or the quality of your work; they are based on how many times you were late over the past year. Many people use his job as a stepping stone. It is a great stepping stone because it is a solid job with great benefits (try to find more generous benefits for working part time).
Advice to Senior Management
Reward the most valuable employees over the people who just do not care and do poor work. Help employees see where they can develop their career at FedEx.

Wonderful benefits for part-time work. My station cares about the employees there. It is like an extended family.

Hard to get vacation you want if you lack seniority. The work is hard as a courier.
Advice to Senior Management
More work group meetings to foster better teamwork. Use part-time guys to help with p2 for improved service.

No life/work balance. Management is expected to be readily available all hours of the day and on weekends.

Upper management, listen to the voice of those who are performing the job. The job is more than just crunching of numbers.

Basically keep doing what your doing. I honestly really had no prob with management as far as complaints etc. I felt they were pretty fair.

Limited room for meaningful career advancement. If you don't want to be a manager there is little beyond being a courier, service agent, or ramp agent available. It is exceedingly difficult to get into the corporate enviroment without previous job experience in the position you are applying for.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on actually promoting from within. Give your internal people who have stuck with you for years as loyal hard-working grunts a chance to excel in something other than manual labor. Do not focus so much on cutting hours to the very bare minimum and cramming as much work into as little time as possible.

Advice to Senior Management
My advice to management would be to understand that in a fast paced and time critical work environment like this mistakes are a given.

Health Insurance, 401k, raise based on performance and opportunities for advancement, tuition reimbursement, discounts on vacations, great work out, can transfer anywhere in the country, employees' input is welcomed

Most positions only part-time, wear and tear on your body over time, working in cold and rain, dealing with constant changing FAA regulations,

Keep listening to what your employees have to say about issues they face on a daily basis.
Pros
Excellent benefits. The benefits used to be slightly better, but FedEx cannot be blamed for higher costs being charged to them. Health care expenses are constantly rising.
Great pay if you are willing to stay at FedEx for the long haul.
Ability to apply for other positions around the U.S.
Above average job security if you do your job well. FedEx goes out of its way to not lay people off when times are bad.

The facility is in dire need of an extreme makeover. The employee parking lot is littered with garbage. Seagulls circle around looking for a meal. I feel like I'm making a trip to the county dumps.
Getting promoted can be a slow process. Employee turnover is higher at the bottom and lower as the rank increases. This results in having to wait until people transfer or retire to be promoted within.
This is a physically demanding job and not for everyone. Extra trucks or flights can require employees to work overtime which may or may not be desirable.
Recognition is average. It could be better, but most people that go above and beyond are eventually recognized for their hard work.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide a cleaner working environment.
Provide healthier food options. A small on-site cafe would be perfect!
Provide a safe environment employees can nap after they are off the clock.This would prevent
employees from having accidents.
Do a better job recognizing top performers.
