    Pros

Everything seems to be just fine so far. Fair pay. Don't work you too hard. Benefits. Willing to train you so you get more hours and can move up.

    Cons

You have to call to see what time you go in. No set schedule. Really corporate. No latitude. Also no cell phones allowed in the Hub

    Pros

    Good pay, not long hours

    Cons

Where to start! Unless you are a 100% YES MAN, this company is not for you. The act as though they want your opinion, but unless it is in support of anything the company does, it is not valid. They keep a lot of dead wood around and tend to punish the most productive people. The reward there for good work is more work. Promotions are a joke, unless you are one of the club. Managers most often have no idea what the employees do. Highly inefficient, they reinvent the wheel constantly and it is a new version of the same old stuff. Innovation and technology are actively discouraged. This is in reference to the Air Operations division, by the way. An exceptionally poorly run organization. All the management there does is hide to protect their position.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Everyone thinks Fred still runs the company. He has no idea what is going on. All input to him is filtered so that only the stuff the VP core wants him to see is actually delivered. Get rid of Oliver-Wyman. All they are doing is spending money and making the staff more miserable than they already are. Everyone above Manager needs to go. Get some fresh blood.

I have been working at Fedex Express as a contractor (more than 10 years)

    Pros

financially strong company, market share based on best reliability in express package business, brand recognition,
low customer switching, cost controls for large labor force.

    Cons

pressure on all employees to "get the packages to destination," long standing corporate policy of anti-union actions.
corporate rhetoric (The Purple Promise) (People, Service, Profits) oppose fair treatment of employees - profit sharing, gone; Defined Benefit Pension Plan, reduced by 40% to "Cash Balance Plan" very difficult to gain "full-time" pay status due to predominance of part-time workers. corporate personnel practices do not allow for third party neutral in cases of employee discipline or termination. if you are a part-timer at FedEx Express, you will need to have at least one other source of income in order to survive. benefits are good, but raises do not match cost-of-living. Handler jobs VERY physically demanding. UPS drivers (Teamsters) average $5/hr more than FedEx Express drivers for same longevity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

don't waste my/your time putting any good ideas in the "suggestion box," management are the smartest guys in the room, with the best ideas.

One of the biggest employers in Memphis can't/ won't pay their employees wages that equal their hard work.

I have been working at Fedex Express part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The only Pros to this company are the benefits allotted to the employees.

    Cons

Management looks for every reason NOT to grant raises to their employees. I have worked with this company for over 7 years and haven't received Any sort of raise from merit to cost-of-living. Also Diversity is a joke with the majority of employees being 70% Black to 30% White.Promotions are lacking with this company, in order to advance withing, the employee must submit a competitive bid whenever a position comes open.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more concerned and open to the employee's wishes, instead or what the employee can do for FedEx, you should be concern on what YOU can do for the employee.

I worked at Fedex Express full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Good benefits. One of the few companies that offer full benefits for part time positions. Job security is high as long as procedures and rules are adhered to.

    Cons

Promotions are very difficult to come by and the demands for such positions are far beyond reasonable once in those positions. 14 hour working days are commonplace once in management, even low level management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

listen to your employees more attentively

Current Employee - Project Engineer in Memphis, TN

I have been working at Fedex Express full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The culture is positive and helpful. Despite the pressure of being an Express company, most areas are fairly laid back, although expectations are high for new hires.

    Cons

There is a certain 'hourly' culture among many professionals who have been with the company for 30+ years. Often, people with much seniority have been in the same position for their entire career and have no motivation to change.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

For a technologically advanced company, there is too much reliance on outdated systems (mainframe, Blackberry, IE, etc.). There is a strong reluctance to change and streamline. The company is stuck relying on Services who have proved again and again they have zero motivation to provide prompt assistance.
