    Pros

I worked there for 21 years. Outstanding company with a corporate culture that takes great care of it's employees. Benefits are outstanding even part timers get full time benefits. Vacation is outstanding, 3 weeks vacation after 5 years plus 2 personal and 2 floating holidays per year starting with year 1. Great training , great leadership.

    Cons

High pressure, time sensitive jobs. Often requires you to do heavy lifting and be outside in the elements.

I worked at Fedex Express full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great manager, flexible, awesome co-workers, provides training, benefits are exceptional, 401K plan, pension plan, excellent health insurance and provides for dental and vision options, work is interesting and you can make a real contribution. They continue to grow their business, creating new and innovative services to their portfolio while improving on existing ones. I had an incredible manager who was supportive. In addition the rest of his work group were top notch professionals, experts in their field, but helped each other to get the job done.

    Cons

Fast paced work, short deadlines. I like this type of work but might be stressful for others

Former Contractor - Avionics Design Engineer in Memphis, TN
Former Contractor - Avionics Design Engineer in Memphis, TN

I worked at Fedex Express as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

As a contractor, there are by nature very few benefits. Time off is pretty much the norm in the industry. Office culture is typically a cube environment, many of the direct employees are pretty good folks and decent engineers. They also have a pretty good cafeteria in the "Hub."

    Cons

Contractors are pretty much treated as such with a few rude old timers thrown in. Contractors are usually not invited to company functions. Management has an occasionally serious common sense problem and tends to not listen to employee concerns, particularly contractors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your people, even including contractors, as we have been around quite a few different employment scenarios and we do have some valuable experience and viewpoints.
