Pros
Feld employees are some of the smartest and most committed employees in the world. There is great pride in ownership, and there is a sense of teamwork that permeates throughout all levels.
Cons
There does not seem to be a lot of respect for individuality. Extroverts and "pretty" people tend to do well here and go far quickly. Although each regional office is different, introverted and shy people tend not to do well here, and do not gain the respect of co-workers or management.
Working at Feld is a lifestyle job. The work will consume your nights and weekends, you will have to be passionate about it. 9-to-5ers are looked down upon and will not last.
Pros
Feld is a good organization for recent college graduates with only one or two internships under their belt. The company tends to throw new graduates into the deep end and let them sink or swim. It's a fantastic experience for young people with a lot of energy (and with parents that can subsidize their living expenses).
Cons
Feld is NOT the company to work for if salary is important to you. The pay is not good at all. The company also does not offer any real opportunities for professional development and there is high turnover because the smart people take the experience and run to a better paying position. The commission and bonus structures is NOT competitive at all in comparison to other entertainment organizations.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more honest and forthcoming in the interview process, especially about the incentive structure and benefits package, which is not at all competitive. Management needs to be more approachable on ALL levels. If an open door policy does exist, I guarantee none of the employees know about it.
Pros
The ability to travel the world some and meet people and go to interesting places you would not necessarily be able to do o your own dime.
Cons
In the department that I worked (merchandising) the cost cutting would get extreme. We worked with independent contractors that traveled with us on tour. The company was continuously cutting the deal with them that made the good contractors leave the company. Made it hard to staff a tour with quality people.
When you were on break during the summer you were still "on" even if you were not receiving a paycheck.
Advice to Senior Management
I do not know any advice that would matter. It seems that there is always a lot of lip service to being a team and making things better, but what the reality ends up being is that we always need to cut, cut, cut and the living conditions be damned.
Pros
Fun! Great people, great place to work. Leaders in Live Entertainment. Room for advancment if you are a go getter.
Cons
Heavy work load. Can be a very cut throat business. Very political and not always correct.
Advice to Senior Management
You are loosing a lot of valuable employees because you listen to your VP'S who are not always correct. Talk to the little guys and ask us whats going on on our level. Everything your VP tells you is not true. People are very loyal to your Comapny and should not be discarded as trash just because your VP is clueless and relays inproper information. You are only as good as your VP makes you.
Pros
The culture is laid back.
Cons
Benefit isn't that great. No 401k match. Not everyone gets a salary that is comparable to the position responsibilities. Employees are very cliquish. Favoritism from some managers.
Advice to Senior Management
Support your employees and reward them for their hardwork.
Pros
interesting business. You get to wear multiple hats here.
Cons
It's very hard to advance here. There is nowhere to go and I wouldn't want to even if there was. The upper management is very stressed here and gets fired at the drop of a hat. If the CEO is in a bad mood, watch out!
Advice to Senior Management
You need to appreciate your employees more and pay them better. They work very hard for you and they deserve a little more in return than what they are receiving.
Pros
Coworkers, great Brands, opportunity to get involved with a lot of different aspects of the business
Cons
Employee benefits aren't great. Salaries are despicably low. The workload is not compatable with the salary.
Advice to Senior Management
Invest in your employees
Pros
Youthful group of co-workers, travel, fast paced work environment.
Cons
Poor benefits, lack of communication from upper management. Very dictator like managment, my way or the highway.
Advice to Senior Management
Old school management needs to get with the times.
Pros
young energetic workforce, fast-paced environment, great products to represent, opportunities for growth are prevalent, financial resources are sufficient to do the job
Cons
stress level is high, ownership is very involved in every decision made, privately held and in a period of progression from ownership of one generation passing on the company to the next
Advice to Senior Management
Slow down the progression of ownership change
Pros
-Upper management was very easy to talk to and I could always go to my VP and get his help when I needed it
-Family-run business has a real family feel to it. Even the CEO is so down-to-earth, it makes you enjoy working for such a company
-Great people working there who really care about the brand and the work that they do
-Wonderful brands to work on, great opportunities to learn
Cons
-Not much of an opportunity for growth
-The pay (according to everyone) is really low for the work you put in. Does not match what other NYC jobs should be paying.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep the communication lines open, as you have done in the past. It allows people in the company to feel like they are part of something really important and that their opinions are valued.
