Pros
Good place to start career and see a lot of aspects of a business. Easy to move around to do a lot of different things
Cons
Promote from within, but dont increase pay. Expect to increase work load, but don't increase pay. Limited amount of learning after a few years of work
Advice to Senior Management
Good work experience coming out of college
Don't always pick and choose what issues to address
Issues remain constant without being addressed
Pros
Good hours, good management and overall couture of the company
Cons
Small pay (below industry standard)

Pros
Great people to work for. Managers took time to get to know employees and gave reasonable chances to get to know the program and that inventory before making any decisions about the employees' progress.
Cons
Inventory in January was difficult with all the snow and counting pipe outside could have been better organized in order to limit overhead errors.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue doing what makes the company improve. Try to streamline communications by allowing employees to talk with upper management without being hassled by direct supervisors.
Pros
Ferguson has a great culture. Promotes from within. Upper management communicates effectively to the branches. For the most part, the associates are great people and really look out for each other. They will get you through some rough days. IF you are working for a good manager, it can be an enjoyable place to work.
Cons
Ferguson is very demanding of your time. It requires long hours if you want to advance in the company. Ferguson gets the best of you in the work/life balance. Customers can be brutal! You have to put up with a lot of B.S.. Ferguson demands too much for what they pay you! If they paid better, I would be more inclined to recommend the company.
Advice to Senior Management
This is a great company to work for on many levels. However, pay your successful associates what they deserve. Many associates are taking time from their families to make this company successful and are not properly compensated.
Pros
Very stable company. Will let you work as many hours as needed to benefit the company.
Cons
Expected long hours. Bases all its business practices on their plumbing business model.
Pros
Great opportunities for undergrads starting a career in sales. Excellent corporate communication to branches and associates. Good feedback from management.
Cons
Long hours and some weekends. Limited support on advanced education and zero compensation support. Overall, good company to start a career and gain experience,
Advice to Senior Management
Incorporate flexible work schedules. Provide support for those who want to further their education and experience. Provide growth opportunities for those associates who request it.
Pros
Decent benefits, plenty of challenges, fairly flexible scheulde, time off is better than average (provided you negotiate your vacation and don't accept the typical vacation accrual).
Cons
The manager who hired me was fantastic and then he retired. Management brought someone in who knew absolutely nothing. Now, we are micromanaged and controlled through fear, intimidation and threats. Knowledge and experience mean nothing to Ferguson. It is a clique and if you don't know the right people, you won't be going anywhere anytime soon.
Advice to Senior Management
Handle your promotions fairly and ethically. Instead of giving lip service for associates to treat the customer right even when the associates themselves aren't being treated right is counterproductive. You do not get loyal employees (or customers) by beating them until their morale improves. Deal with your employees in an ethical and honest manner and you will be rewarded with great employees who treat the customers right.
Pros
Good benefits and 401K. Pay ok but hours were too much.
Cons
Management is power hungry and does not listen to employees.
Pros
Decent training program
You could always find at least one person to ask for help
Good benefits
Cons
Hours are brutal
Customers can be very difficult
If there is a problem, management will almost always take the customer's side
Pay is lousy and not really merit based
Management is penny smart, dollar stupid
Advice to Senior Management
Stop wasting money on human resources, cut back on spending, trim the lousy workers and pay the good workers more
Pros
Here is a list of some reasons why Ferguson Enterprises is a good place to work: Opportunity, Good Benefits, Stability, Locations everywhere.
Cons
Here is a list of reason why Ferguson is not a great place to work: Work hours, Foreign owned, management layers, demanding.
Advice to Senior Management
One piece of advice that I would have to management is to do everything you can to retain your young talent and to communicate. During my time there, many young people got fed up with the lack of communication and career development and Ferguson ended up losing some great people they had invested heavily in.
