Ferrara used to be a GREAT company with great benefits. Management has changed and it's quickly going downhill.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

Prospeople are fun, good insurance benefits and paid time off, free lunch in some locations, free coffee and tea, microwaves and refrigerators in breakrooms, eat all the free candy you want at work, get discounts on candy in the employee candy store, my immediate bosses were fantastic- smart, easy-going, easy to work with.

ConsSince Sal Ferrara is no longer CEO, the company is quickly going downhill. The Ferrara family cared about their employees. The company has recently hired a bunch of upper-level management and they are getting rid of smart, knowledgeable people who have been here for decades. They are also moving some of the manufacturing lines from the US to Mexico, taking away from US jobs.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake employees feel like they are valued again.

Good quality co-workers / your experience may vary by area of the company

ProsMix of long term employees and new folks keep things moving. Most employees knowledgeable and good to work with. Good benefits. Also, provides training opportunities and promotes from within where applicable.

ConsCurrent company culture still under development since the merger. Some new talent wants to do things their way without getting a feel for what came before.

Advice to Senior ManagementPrevious culture was "family business"; don't discount the value of the longer term employees.

    Misleading Hiring

    Packer (Current Employee)
    Winona, MN

ProsThe people are nice, and the work is steady.

ConsAlthough they inform you in the hiring process of the possibility of working weekends and overtime, they never tell you that they will call an hour before they want you. They never tell you that they will decide for you if you're staying late. They never tell you that you have no control over your schedule/day off. And they certainly never tell you that they will work you seven days plus in a row. People would be okay with the hours if they had control over when they worked on the weekend and got to schedule their own OT.

Advice to Senior ManagementRespect the time and lives of your employees!

You're better off collecting unemployment than working here

    Packer (Former Employee)
    Winona, MN

ProsNone unless you like crappy pizza from Dominos they buy for you once in a while

ConsManagement lies all the time and even insulted the workers, you are forced to work Saturdays, everything is done cheaply

Advice to Senior ManagementBe honest with your employees, give them more Saturdays off and show more appreciation, cash bonuses would be nice too instead of food, all we got for Christmas last year was a dinner. Also give them Labor Day weekend off too.

    Modern day sweat shop

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsCompany provided lunch which was a nice perk. Although it was probably more of a controlling thing rather than a perk.

ConsRequired to work 6 days a weeks without getting to pick your day off. Pay is on the low scale to compared to similiar companies. Don't even think about growth just make that you dont get stuck.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat people like people. Work life/balance is essential to staying competitive and keeping good employees.
