Pros
great brand, well established, high integrity
Cons
low morale, difficult to navigate politics, a great deal of change, uncertainty, tolerating bad managers, siloed, slim opportuniities for advancement
Advice to Senior Management
pay attention to employee morale
Pros
Private company (so no knee-jerk market-driven reactions to dumb analyst reports). Pays well. Some bright people in pockets. Civilized and polite environment. Still strong franchise.
Cons
Private ownership implies occasional arbitrary/crazy decisions. Eg, the misguided "site strategy" (aka, kick 'em out of Boston) will drive substantial IP loss and talent bleed. Instability is on the rise. Top-down decision making, run more like a club than a company. Entrenched passive-aggressive approach to discourse.
Advice to Senior Management
Better leverage existing talent. Fire the idle hangers-on - use meritocracy more consistently. Slow down the Mass Exodus before stability goes totally in the toilet.
Pros
Benefits and educational opportunities are very good.
Cons
Jobs open to outsiders when competent, loyal employees exist in house. This practice must stop.
Advice to Senior Management
If you want loyalty and respect then hire from within. There are many who work here long hours, giving discretionary effort only to be bypassed for promotion because we "work" at Fidelity. This is no way to treat your loyal employees. At least if you get bypassed by another Fidelity employee you can understand that, but to pull someone off the street to take a position you've been striving for is hypocritical.
Pros
Generally very good environment to work with above average salary and benefits. A great place to take advantage of company match programs and profit sharing.
Cons
The firm is very bureaucratic and slow to get new projects, products, services accomplished. There can be conflicting agendas and goals between groups which delay progress.
Pros
The salary and benefits are very good, including bonuses and 401k contributions and decent medical insurance. The atmosphere is professional.
Cons
The company is going through a transition and is moving people to other locations, especially out of the Boston area to other states. The different divisions of Fidelity do not always cooperate with each other. This makes it hard to meet goals.
Pros
Good trainning and very nice staff
Cons
Very long hours and require high level of dedication to work-ethic.
Pros
Work/life Balance
People you work with
Treatment of Employees by the firm

Cons
Constant Restructuring and intrusive background checks to get in
Advice to Senior Management
