Pros
There is a lot of room for advancement and to move to different Fidelity companies.
Cons
Pay started out relatively low compared to similar positions at other companies.
Pros
Great on the resume, good comp & benefits package
Cons
Little outside the box thinking, management view employees as replaceable.
Advice to Senior Management
It is cheaper to keep employees than to replace them
Pros
Great co workers and a comfortable environment.
Cons
Expensive Boston Life style. Great location but expensive.
Pros
Fidelity has a firm reputation in Boston. Many companies value that they are a conservative firm that has weathered the financial crisis very well. They are a leader in what they do. They provide some of the best compensation then other comparable firms around.
Cons
Fidelity may not have the nationwide recognition for being a private company so it may not feel the same as it would feel if you were working for a publicly held company.
Advice to Senior Management
They should instill that the culture of Fidelity remains the same from team to team. I worked in several teams and each team was different.
Pros
Great benefits, challenging work, great technology, flexible work options
Cons
Reorgs all the time, layoffs the first Tuesday of every month...but they are hiring?
Advice to Senior Management
Look at who has been laid off and who is left. Is the business really running well? Stop the layoffs. How can projects be completed when key people are laid off each month.
Pros
Fidelity keeps up to date with the latest technology. Definitely, potential for growth sine it has diversified internal orgnisations and culture
Cons
Too many processes to adhere during the software developement project which at times add no value. Depending upon the program or project, individuals may not get the complete vision due to many Sr. Mgmt layer.
Pros
Very Friendly and Happy People with great attitude
Top Management is very good
Very well groomed and well mannered people.
Lots to learn.
Great Facilities.
Job Satisfaction
Excellent Pay + Benefits
Cons
They laid off lots of people last year but now are once again hiring lots of people. Lots of jobs out there now on the Fidelity Site.
Advice to Senior Management
You're the best. Please do not layoff anymore people. That would make Fidelity a perfect company to work at. I would want to grow with this company. I am very proud to work here.
Pros
Great benefits, some really hard working people.
Cons
Sr Management, promotions handed out to friends not qualified, hiring outside consultants to take on vp jobs that lead to no value for the company - yet the folks are retained. Its an old boys club where getting ahead is dependent on how well you flattered not how well you did your job.
Advice to Senior Management
Take a look at problems at Director and above - fire those not worth keeping - and promote those who know their jobs.
Pros
Their platforms are robust and supposed to be more advanced than its competitors
Cons
Although it's a financial service firm, due to the size you feel like a number
Advice to Senior Management
Perhaps bring in more contract workers and consider retaining permanent workers. Fidelity has a history of reductions in employee headcounts.
Pros
Good structured environment
Strong and highly effective management staff
Base of very knowledgeable staff
Exceptionable workplace environment
On site fitness facitilties create energetic resources
Cons
Often highly aggressive projects
Sometimes highly aggressive projects due to industry regulations
Many exceptional staff lost due to downsizing due to market competition
Advice to Senior Management
Besides the formal award programs, afford employees positive feedback for their successful efforts. Continue team buiding programs as they grow close highly effective teams.
