Pros
Benefits are great, great management support, great work environment, friendly co- workers, etc.
Cons
Strict but fair policies, wish it was more laid back environment, no off campus lunch, etc.
Advice to Senior Management
N/a
Pros
Good medical/benefits plans, multinational company, allows shadowing for lateral and upward movement through the comany, they encourage skillset improvement
Cons
Can take more personal time unexpectedly
Advice to Senior Management
Keep communicating with lower employee levels
Pros
Brand Name. Off on weekends. Plenty of OT if you want/need it. 401(k) - 1$ for 1$ Co Match up to 7%, plus Profit Sharing Contributions. Many Corp perks/discounts available. Family owned company. Huge on customer service 1st, profits 2nd. Classroom training (8 wks).
Cons
Crazy call volume with recent market volatility. Call Center environment. Performance metric goals/standards are set too high and can be a challenge to achieve at times.Managers have way too much fun while reps are constantly busting butt. Managers are not proactive enough, so be prepared to take ownership of your development so you don't get left behind by your peers. Also, expect a new manager every 6-8 mths.
Advice to Senior Management
Take ownership of your development. Get to know every manager on the floor (at least by name), put customers first, and you will go far within this company in a relatively short period of time.
Pros
good benefits, good place to start your career
Cons
low pay, not in best location to work in.
Advice to Senior Management
higher pay
Pros
Good benefits and okay salary
Cons
Kiss and and Politics are two things that matters
Advice to Senior Management
Try to see the bigger picture and don't buy all the Political communications
Pros
Benefits, experience, low expectations for those looking for a "job" and not a career.
Cons
Large corporation that has trouble with innovation and change
Advice to Senior Management
You need to be willing to demote or dismiss management personnel that fail to perform basic management functions or hold individuals accountable for their performance.
Pros
Loved the environment and my initial boss!
Cons
Hard to communicate with my second boss, lacked giving direction and communication skills
Advice to Senior Management
know your peak performers and communicate with them
Pros
Large company with lots of mobility. Very nice facilities. Hard to move up unless you have worked there for many years. Very little pay but decent benefits.
Cons
Pay is below market average but the benefits make up for it. Training programs are inadequate. The food is terrible.
Advice to Senior Management
Work with your employees one on one more frequently. Provide better feedback about performance and insight/advice about upward movement. Hold people accountable.
Pros
Job security. For the most part it takes a lot to be laid off or fired. Benefits are good, which include profit sharing, access to HSA/Health Flex accounts, etc.
Cons
You won't get any significant raises unless you make it your priority to move departments when you can. This requires you to apply and search for internal jobs constantly, which I have seen work for some people. To sum it up, there is no autonomy in your job. From the start, they want you to buy into the "Fidelity Culture." However, they have the money to spend to be a successful company - at least for the short term. So if you want job security this is the place for you. If you're looking for autonomy in your job and play an active role in the company you work for, I suggest you look elsewhere.
Advice to Senior Management
There is a definite lack of communication between employees and senior management. Basically you find out the day of when there are any changes, and sometimes very big changes. This obviously can be frustrating at times. Management has relayed to me personally, you have to be bad at your job or an ass to move up. Fidelity is a large corporation and you are treated just like a number; despite the small company culture they advertise to you they have.
Basically, my suggestion to management is to tell it like it is. Also, to create more lines of communication to the so called "peons" of the company. It seems most changes are made without getting any information from the people on the ground. If this were the military, you would be losing a lot of battles because of this.
Pros
Great benefits.
Line management terrific.
Cons
Hires management from outside.
No real opportunity for growth.
Salaries not comparable with firms in area.
Advice to Senior Management
Build your leadership from within.
