    I worked at Fidelity Investments

    Pros

A great company and with very competitive salary. A very good benefit structure. High percentage 401k match. Very family oriented.

    Cons

A lot of bureaucratic red tape. Different organization structures. It was difficult to get new ideas or processes moving as many are very set in their ways

I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Absolutely great company to work for and great atmosphere. Best retirement benefits and 401k in the industry. Great place to cut your teeth and learn. Tons of opportunity. If you enjoy investments it's a phenomenal place to learn.

    Cons

Awful and I mean absolutely awful lower management. Do not recognize talent whatsoever. Production means absolutely nothing. Initial management are the employees who couldn't make it in what they actually wanted to do or just wanted to be lazy. Upper management is extremely smart but lower management is very petty and very likely to be as young or younger than you when starting. Fight your way through it and it is very rewarding but it can burn you out initially. Just realize you will be above them soon.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more competent lower management that can actually evaluate talent and intelligence and not just pick the people who they like to recommend for the next position.

I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

They have a good benefits package including profit sharing and 401k match

    Cons

Their salary offering seems pretty low due to their "good" benefits package.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have to learn and choose the employees you want to keep for the long-term based on talent and personality. There are too many occasions when the wrong person gets promoted and you lose out on retaining your real talent.

I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

An atmosphere that truly promotes personal development. I've never worked anywhere that cared so much about the services that they offer. I genuinely feel that everyone at Fidelity has the best interest of the customer in mind. Also, there is a lot of opportunity for growth.

    Cons

Entry level pay is low when compared to similar roles in the financial industry. The company can feel a little too big and that there is some disconnect between different functions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Considering that Fidelity's goal is to provide the best customer experience across all industries, the best way to do that is to make sure that the employees are not overworked or under appreciated.

I worked at Fidelity Investments as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Friendly environment; interns are valued; everyone is willing to answer questions; the pay for interns was much better than a lot of my peers were offered at different companies; a lot of opportunity for personal and professional development

    Cons

At times, I felt like I could have been doing a lot more and utilized better. I wish I would have had an opportunity to learn and develop more skills.

I worked at Fidelity Investments full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Quality company overall, good benefits, vacation time, etc. Great Christmas party, onsite gym.

    Cons

Variable compensation is more and more dependent on manager assessment with a focus on irrelevant things like number of calls more than 4 min long. Can end up with poorly qualified managers. For sales positions, your base pay will never get a COLA bump. Seems like the comp plan changes every six months....and beware of the "it's comp neutral and you have a chance to make more money" song and dance from management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the anonymous employee satisfaction surveys instead of discontinuing them because you don't like what you hear.

I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Fidelity Investments is the ideal place to begin a career. The top-down leadership approach creates a culture of trust, transparency, friendly competitiveness and excellence. All levels of leaders invest countless hours in the development of their employees and the support provided to enhance your career is second to none. The company's values are visible in everything they do. It feels amazing to work for a company that sets clear direction, empowers employees to excel and then recognize and reward those who achieve.

    Cons

The sheer size of the company can seem overwhelming, but this is easily overcome by having such great leaders in place to provide guidance to their employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to focus on what matters and nothing else, expect excellence out of your employees, make the impossible possible, encourage personal motivation and promote selflessness.
