Pros
It is nearly impossible to be fired. As long as you don't clock in and leave for the day (aka. steal from the company) or call someone in senior management a horrible name, you're pretty safe.
Benefits are pretty nice as well, especially the vision plan as of 2011.
An extra week of vacation after 5 years with the company. Your next week comes after 15 years of service.
Cons
Please keep in mind, all of this is only relating to the technology side of the house in St. Petersburg, FL.
Annual reviews have not counted towards annual pay increases for the past 4 years. Instead, management has decided to give blanket increases to everyone, so it's "fair." For a company run and managed by so many capitalist republicans, this is workplace socialism at its finest.
Extra work has been piled on people, which is to be expected. However, the "you should be thanking me you have a job" attitude that is given, when you attempt to push back, should never be accepted. There are limits to human efficiency.
You will need to chart your own career path. This office is honestly filled with some of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of working with, but they can't help you move forward in your career. Not for lack of trying, but there truly is no where to go unless someone retires or dies. And even in those cases, the rule of thumb is that the business does not promote from within.
Advice to Senior Management
Look to and encourage your top performers. Do not look solely for outside resources when new opportunities become available.
Blanket increases are an insult to those who work diligently. Pay people based on what you believe their efforts are worth.
Have HR start doing out processing from employees who leave the company, to determine their reasons for seeking a change. Otherwise, you will only be able to identify issues from public forums, such as this site.
Pros
Large company with diverse employees and customers.
Cons
Poor compensation and horrible health insurance benefits.
Pros
Overall it is a good working environment with continuous efforts to improve.
Cons
Would rather hire new managers from outside the company.
Pros
Plenty of good friends in the company.
Cons
Very low wages, low to no raises, no bonuses or quality compensation. As oil and food go up (which are outside the CPI) they need to learn how to help us and pay a little more to offset our cost, not just make decisions to increase managements bank accounts.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't forget the little guys who put you where you are. Karma will come back to you. Also, social networking is allowing many of us to communicate with each other outside the walls of the company and share information about the facts on certain events.
Pros
nice ppl, great location, feel like working in park, lunch for free
Cons
do not have enough ppl working, so one may carry more than 3 responsibilties, hard to progess
Advice to Senior Management
add more investment ppl, recruit at more than just IVY league, less OT time
Pros
Payment processing/financial services experience. Ebanking and Check Services are great training grounds for a banking/financial services career.
Cons
RIFFs are at random and only a way to divert resources to other depts. The Credit Card division is poorly managed and has experienced excessive turn over in the last 3 years.
Advice to Senior Management
Look at who is running the credit card division. Many of the weakest links during 2010 are still in place, they should be removed.
Pros
Stable company with excellent long term prospects.
Cons
Acquisition integration was slow moving and disjointed, which presented operational challenges.
Pros
I worked there during a bad time for this company
Cons
Small company, it appears that things have began to run smoothly
Advice to Senior Management
Do not treat people like numbers.
Pros
Benifits are okay
lots of employee discounts through 3rd parties credit unions, memberships etc.
some what difficult to get fired if you watch your back
Cons
Horrible work hours Very Global Company with No communication
Horrible Management Pay is very low
Horrible work in General Hard to get time off
Jail like enviornment No team Work
Advice to Senior Management
Hire better management with management skills reward workers and show appreshation clean the whole building not just the hallways
Pros
The only good thing about working at this company is the unlimited OT available. The more money you need, the more you can work.
Cons
Every man for himself mentality at this company, no teamwork, no communication what so ever.
Advice to Senior Management
Take ownership for once, stop passing blame on others. Learn to communicate effectively at management level. Show some care towards employees, if you want the work done right, treat your employees with respect, no one wants to work or put the extra effort for a company that doesn't care for their employees.
