Pros
I was very fortunate to have a good team of people that I worked with which I think is why I stayed there for so long. I worked for my boss, not for the company itself.
Cons
The same problems that you would experience at a large corporation, you will experience here. Ther is a lack of communication accross the board which confuses employees. There is not room for growth. It is said that you will have many options, but exposure to them is nill. No further education emphasized. If you work in retail, everyone will have their hand out for you, with no reciprocity.
Advice to Senior Management
happy employees mean low turn over.....make the employees feel valuable, not replaceable
Pros
Strong regional bank that is customer focused and creating growth environment. Fifth Third provides plenty of career opportunities, recognition and competitive pay.
Cons
No down sides to list. If you wanted advancement opportunity, there were plenty of opportunities available and the company strives to be employer of choice.
Pros

big but not to big
Cons
they put you where they want you not where your may perform the best
Advice to Senior Management
really evaluate what you have
Pros
One of the best reasons to work at Fifth Third is because of the work - life balance. Generally, you can get in and out of the office in a reasonable time.
Cons
One of the downsides (or upsides) is the laid back culture at Fifth Third. While that may be great for some, for others like myself, I prefer a more pressured environment.
Advice to Senior Management
I have not met the senior management at Fifth Third. Compared to last year (2010), they are doing a much better job at improving their performance.
Pros
Fifth Third Bank is a great place to work. I have been there for 5 years and have enjoyed my time. Compensation is fair.
Cons
I like the company however there is a glass cieling for certain positions. A Personal Banker's glass ceiling is Financial Center Manager. There is little movement outside of retail banking
Advice to Senior Management
Open the door for more career path movement
Pros
overall good people and goodsupport system thru the help desk and other employees
Cons
they do not know what they want to accomplish. Goals change all the time and it's one fire drill to another.
Advice to Senior Management
set clear goals and stick to them even if they are costing you money. dont cut incentive when you underestimated our ability to meet them, then raise goals to a level that is not attainable.
Pros
Good Salary, benefits, tools, IT competenance and response
Cons
Very limited opportunity for advancement
