competent co-workers
reward for hard work
incentive for sales on all levels
paid vacation
truly a nice place to work
Cons
"bankers hours" is an old term and not applicable to this position!
can be demanding but there is support from co-workers
Advice to Senior Management
System updates and computer updates would really be beneficial to make Fifth Third more competitive and employees more efficient.
Pros
Great pay
Great bonuses
Great Commission
Honor Time off Requests
Very flexible with scheduling part time employees
Wonderful Branch manager
Cons
Policies change constantly
Focus too much on sales rather than employee
Hard to sell in current economy
Advice to Senior Management
Find a new job
Pros
This would be a great job for someone that does not want to go to college or is currently attending college. I took the job after graduating from college and I hate that it is part time. The people are nice its just something I am highly over qualified for.
Cons
No opportunity for advancement, they do not acknowledge the people who do the most work. They do not care what clients need they just want to make their sales quota.
Advice to Senior Management
Give people jobs they are better suited for
Pros
The benefits are spectacular, they offer an awesome incentive if you sell products. $8 per checking, $15/savings, $250/merchant service. the list is endless.
Cons
In Michigan, there is not a lot of room for growth. Tellers are all part time with the exception on 1 full time in the branch, and good luck trying to get a PB position. They are cutting them left and right.
Advice to Senior Management
.
Pros
Work Ethnic as well as the people. It is fun to be in an environment were most of your co-workers care about there own work and are willing to help you with things you may not understand. The banking industry is hard to cope especially now with the economic downturns that we are facing.
Cons
Just working for a bank right now is the downside. I dont think it has anything to do with Fifth Third directly, its more of the economic placing the blame on banks big and small regardless of there involvement with some of the shady deals done in wall street.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep going on strong as we are a very strong and sound bank. Dont sell fifth third to any one. We are worth alot more than you may know and making a quick buck to merge with another bank / equity firm isnt the answer
Pros
The hours were from 9am to 5pm. I did have the flexibility to also leave during the day and meet with clients.
Cons
The communication was lacking. Noone knew what was going on and it was very difficult to get any information on procedures. They usually passed the buck. You would call one supervisor and they would tell you to call another to get your answer. I worked in the mortgage side of Fifth Third and it was very difficult to do my job. Just before I was hired they had changed their computer system and it was difficult to use the system and I was left on my own to figure it out. I would call for help and they were rarely able to help me.
Advice to Senior Management
Get a better plan and open the lines of communication. Your management team should know every aspect about the business and should be able to answer questions quickly and efficiently
Pros
At the time, stability and opportunities.
Cons
As time wore on, the fiscal responsibility went out the window and the employees were constantly asked to make up the difference.
Advice to Senior Management
Resign, sell the bank and get your golden parachutes.
