I have been working at Finish Line part-time

    Pros

Customer-centric environment and willing to do anything to get what the customer needs. High energy and great work environment to be in.

    Cons

Management are very sales driven and do not see well rounded employees hard work that they put in even if it isn't in sales. Choose to see what they want to see. Slow days can bring in less money and the company puts it on us.

    Advice to Management

Enjoy your employees time and give them a chance. Even in a slow store.

    Pros

30% discount great coworkers become lifelong friends flexible hours good teamwork

    Cons

not the same selection at every store, the store you may work at may be low in Jordan apparel and shoes almost zero to no retros then you go to one in the city that has everything. low pay for sales associates with high standards and expectations not much of a social life if your a good seller if you get promoted don't just assume youll be promoted you have to follow up and nag them until they complete the process through the system and get you through your training or they'll have you running the store open to close for $5 plus commission or minimum wage on a slow day felt like I was in high school with all the drama

    Advice to Management

become better leaders rather than just managers. and lead by example. cooperate needs to up the base pay for all they expect out there associates. especially during holidays where most just take there losses and leave which explains the high high turnover. the stores are the distribution centers corporate expects stores to ship 200+ shoes during holidays, spring, back to school, end of season and sell within the store along with cleaning and upkeep within stores. the associates are basically running the business

    Pros

Exciting industry and Finish Line is at the forefront in product selection, store design, technology and a strong competitive desire to be by far the most premium athletic specialty retailer in the industry...if not the whole retail industry.

    Cons

The culture of the company through up until roughly 2010 was what made it the company that it is/was. Unquestionably an incredible executive team that truly understood it's most important asset, it's people, and you felt it and were deeply inspired to be a part of the team. Those days are gone. One's desire to excel has been replaced by executive's use of fear to motivate. Very dark morale in the field. Zero confidence in the executive team. Wildly successful long-term and even shorter leaders have either left because of it or were forced out.

    Advice to Management

Keep your resume updated and be ready to be replaced on a whim.

    Pros

Hard work is recognized by superiors, and is well noted. In about a year and a half, I went from first ever job to Store Team Leader (manager). In the last two years working here, I have no complaints and plan on staying as long as possible.

    Cons

As with any retail/sales job, sometimes you feel like as an entry level position, you "don't matter". In my experience, that is only the case of you don't put forth effort in doing your job. Honestly, I can't think of one major downer

    Advice to Management

Make in store visits more frequent, and have the suppliers come in stores to actually see what people want. Too hard to communicate with them otherwise, and we end up with a lot of product people (at certain locations) don't want

    Pros

Great benefits! Fitness facility and fitness classes offered are wonderful. Facility is beautiful. Very nice co-workers. Vending machines come in handy.

    Cons

Facility needs some sort of cafeteria. Repercussions for taking advantage of the "Open Door" policy IF it is not what management wants to hear.

    Pros

The employee's who work there are amazing. The job was fun.

    Cons

HR doesn't investigate anything. So if any rumor's get spread, you might as well quit as soon as you hear it.

    Advice to Management

Keep your employee's happy and be honest and upfront with them.
