I have been working at Firecrest Clinical full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

That idyllic work environment we all seek - working with vibrant, enthusiastic, friendly people actually exists here. To enjoy coming in to work every day has been an eye opener for me in the two years I have worked in Firecrest.

The unspoken rule is work hard, play hard. Hard work is rewarded and internal promotion is actively encouraged. The work is fast paced but there is always support from your team and manager, creating a very positive atmosphere.

Additionally, to balance the fast pace, a healthy lifestyle is encouraged, with subsidised personal training sessions available during working hours. This has made a huge difference to me personally and something I have never seen promoted by a company before.

Two years ago, I thought I was joining a large company yet it has doubled in size since then and continues to grow. However, the friendly, positive dynamic has never wavered.

The staff and management have made this company a fantastic place to work and I'm very happy to be a part of it.

    Cons

There are no cons working in Firecrest.

I have been working at Firecrest Clinical

    Pros

Mostly incredible, fun and talented people
Company products have a lot of potential
Multinational company and so possibility of relocation
    Subsidized personal trainer
    Lively sports and social club

    Cons

Disconnect between senior management and staff
A lot of "smoke and mirrors" types of discussion
Shockingly low salaries and refusal to address this
    Terrible bonuses
    Unjust performance review structure
Some of the technology used in the company is very dated
    Some confrontational members of management
Poor communication both internally and between Firecrest and its parent company
Knowledge gaps left after senior staff have left in recent months
Very little room to move forward and progress
    Favouritism
    Some cumbersome and shoddy processes

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your staff - they are communicating openly and honestly for valid reasons. Tackle big issues head-on if it means looking after your staff.
Fix your salaries they are dreadful
    Communicate frequently and openly

    I worked at Firecrest Clinical

    Pros

    Management:
Some of the managers there really have their heads screwed on and know how to rally the troops. Please continue to stay connected and supportive of the ground staff -that is what gets results. How they manage to navigate the bureaucratic mess, power trips and some of their uncooperative colleagues is beyond me.

    Culture:
Most people working there have an open, relaxed and friendly attitude which makes the rest slightly more bearable.
There were plenty of fun nights out and office events organized through a fantastic sports and social committee.

    Benefits:
The health insurance is second to none and a fantastic perk.
    Parental leave.
Sessions with a nearby personal trainer that you can take during office hours.
Flexitime and the option to work from home (for some).

    Cons

    Management:
    Micromanagement.
A smile, chat or quiet laugh is perceived (by some) as laziness and lack of focus. A segregated, overly competitive attitude is promoted with employees pitted against each other rather than reaching for the common goal. In my experience, any efforts toward team building were purely superficial.
Constant schedule changes and team rotations, the 'rules' seemed to change every other day.
There was a new process rolled out or altered every few weeks and none were properly enforced, they all failed to address serious long-term issues.
Some manage to do very little apart from furiously typing unnecessary emails, reminding you of their seniority by constant check ups and subjective revisions.
Stifle new ideas while taking credit for the ones that manage to slip through.

    Culture:
The level of petty office politics, favouritism and nepotism involved in working there. Under qualified, under experienced employees are promoted ahead of more suitable candidates through personal connections.
There is a very high turnover of staff with most employees moving on after a maximum of 2 years. Those experienced and valuable members of staff that leave were not replaced and it was up to the rest to pick up the slack.
A scary percentage of staff had lost all desire to excel because the system that has been set up makes it so there is no benefit to standing out or going the extra mile. There were no positions to move into and a very meagre bonus once a year if you were lucky.
The production staff, particularly creatives, were treated like servants.
Some roles do not know if their position will be made obsolete from one week to the next.

    Facilities:
Dirty office and break rooms. Bins overflowing each day, filthy eating utensils.
Regularly a strong smell coming from the bathrooms that would quite literally take your breath away.
There were only enough parking spaces for about two thirds of the staff which caused mayhem every morning.
Be prepared to scale a ditch or climb over a wall as you move between meetings…

    Technology:
Out-dated systems and technology. Vast majority of staff who require decent computers are using something circa 1995. Lacking the basic, industry standard software.

    Salaries
Far too low, once people gain or top-up their experience they move on.
When offering you a position they will seriously low-ball you...hold out for more because the raises do not happen.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Support and value your staff, put away the 'stick' and start rewarding decent, hardworking staff.
Train your staff. That includes leadership, a lot of them have no management skills and are totally unsuitable. Start asking questions about why the talent is fleeing.
Communicate. Involve staff in open ended discussions, where possible. An email once a month, after the fact, will not cut it.

I have been working at Firecrest Clinical

    Pros

    The people on the ground
Subsidized personal trainer (for as long as they allow it)

    Cons

    Nepotism
Company full of big wigs who are only out for themselves
    Little opportunity for career progression
    Awful pay
    Zero communication from management
Regular firings and hirings, you are always watching your back
Often work long hours, no thanks
Ideas and innovation are not welcomed, despite what they tell you
    Terrible facilities
Openly admit to being a company that will hire graduates on low pay for short term

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look WITHIN the company at all the talent you have, promote those who are WORTHY, not because they are friends with management. Increase salaries. Keep your people informed, they are very unhappy and you communicate nothing to them.

I have been working at Firecrest Clinical full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

It's a very fun place to work, with a young and vibrant staff. A very eclectic mix of people, so there's never a dull moment. The work is very faced paced, but it is very interesting and never gets boring or repetitive. The ethos of the company is great, innovation and new ideas are encouraged and rewarded, as is commitment and dedication. The company places a heavy emphasis on employee health and fitness, running a fitness program that offers subsidized personal fitness training during working hours. The company is growing rapidly, there are lots of opportunities for career advancement, and internal advancement is both encouraged and supported.

    Cons

Not a con per say, but you do need to be able to maintain a faced work pace, and adapt well to ongoing and regular change.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To the new senior management team, Firecrest's best assets are its people, and its environment and ethos, try not to change it too much!

    I worked at Firecrest Clinical

    Pros

Firecrest is a quirky and fun place to work. The people that work there are some of the most amazing ive met. And its the people that make it what it is. there is an eclectic mix of people from all walks of life but together and with the company they create a dynamic that is unlike anywhere else ive worked. the company promotes healthy living and are fitness fanatics. from trying to break some quirky Guinness world record to availing of the company's personal trainer (where you are allowed to workout during work hours) to the busy hectic workload thats put in front of you, you wont know whether to laugh or smile. but none of its a joke so you roll with it. its work hard play hard.
there is a huge opportunity to learn a lot

    Cons

you work really hard and sometimes it can be mayhem. timelines are ridiculous and management may put the customer first and the employee second. the ladder hasnt room for everyone.

I have been working at Firecrest Clinical full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    - This company has gone through massive growth since my arrival in 2012 and growth is still happening 2.5 years later. It has been fantastic to be part of this transformation.
    - I arrived in 2012 not really knowing what to expect and not knowing how long I would stay. The people are friendly and enthusiastic and always ready to listen to and implement ideas.
    - The nature of growth has meant massive learning and professional growth opportunities.

    Cons

This is a fast paced and demanding environment. Firecrest is a company for those that thrive on a challenge

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The culture in Firecrest is integral to its continued success. It is very important to maintain this at all costs.
