    easy going environment, friendly people

    Cons

    pay was low for everything we needed to know and learn on the job. managers got too much lee way when it came to being able to clock out to leave and what they did with their time. scheduling was always a hassle because it was the same crappy schedule for weeks, and they wouldn't remember if you asked them for a different shift or you wouldn't get the hours you wanted. and if you get stuck on night crew get comfortable because you're not going anywhere after that.

    up the pay to make it more worthwhile to stay.

    Wish there were benefits such as accrued paid time off and a maximum of 3 paid sick days.

    Great atmosphere to work in if everyone gets along together.

    Cons

    High standards sometimes are impossible to meet if employees are young and don't naturally care as much as a manager does. Bad pay though. Shift leads make only 9 an hour. It's twice the work as a team member who gets paid 8 an hour

    Lead by example and never let the words "do as I say, not as I do." ever come out of your mouth.

    Generally well-managed, good commitment to health and safety, lots of opportunities for promotion.

    Cons

    They considered 25 cents extra an hour a suitable raise.

    Keep doing what you're doing, but don't pretend like working for minimum wage is a livable amount of money.

    Pros

    The company is active in the community, fundraising for charity, which I find rewarding; the food you serve is very high-quality. Standards are high.

    Cons

    Being a franchised restaurant, the "firehouse experience" can vary greatly depending on management. Also, like any job in the food business, it all comes down to the bottom line- I've seen management cut pretty wide corners both on labor and food to save a few pennies. And because Firehouse's food costs are intrisically higher than most comparable restaurants, the margins are thinner, meaning wages often cap out lower than other restaurants.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Corporate has made quite a few decisions in the past 5 years that have revealed a slow, but steady, "race to the bottom" mentality. Moving away from the foil-backed sandwich wraps for example. Stop it.

    As well, there are quite a few items on the F.i.r.e. Reports that are absolutely ridiculous. Please re-evaluate.

    Pros

    It was easy to work around your schedule, easy concept to learn, I really enjoyed working side by side with management.

    Cons

    There was very little dedicated training time, you were expected to learn as you go, and when it got busy is was often times difficult to learn

    Pros

    Ideally one of the best reasons to work at a Firehouse Subs location is the core belief of "Your sucess is our Sucess" set by the Franchise Founders.

    Cons

    Not getting raises or official promotions for doing tasks outside of job descriptions and being told to help out other canidates for the positions with their responsibilities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    It all starts from the top. If at the end of the day ALL you care about is the profit made and not the welfare and morale of the employees making your profits possible, then you can bet on great employees willing to go above and beyond to not only provide an excellent experience and atmosphere for your customers but also go the extra mile to maintain and protect the investment made to create the jobs for them. Instead you end up with base-line employees doing the bare minimum to get through each day and a HIGH rotation of employees needing all new training which takes away from the mission objective of providing an excellent experience and atmosphere for new and returning customers. As the military says " It's Soldiers First, Mission Second. Without Soldiers you CAN NOT complete the Mission."
