    Pros

Very positive work environment until its final year. Had several very good opportunities to transfer to different areas within the company.

    Cons

Senior management decisions drove company to be sold. Unfortunate for most employees who have put in so many years of service.

    Advice to Management

Sr managers at the top need to have a good clear strategy. This didn't happen happen, as evidenced by the revolving door number of CEOs over the past 10 years.

Great people who were trying very hard to make it work. Great benefits & PTO.

    Cons

Old systems and old ways of working with them.

    Advice to Management

Good luck to all the wonderful people who have worked so hard in the last 50 years.

    Pros

-Got to learn about how a big and old corporate functions
    -Good benefits, until recently
-Some good people to work with

    Cons

-In general, a lot of politics
-Coworkers and boss made staying away from trouble as their priorities
-Some people in management made work environment very hostile
-A senior manager would often use threats to employees, such as asking work-from-home employees far away from office who needed the job what their contributions were
-Casual conversations during breaks between coworkers would end up in a formal meeting with management
-A number of coworkers seemed nice, until there might be a slight chance that they might be blamed for the most trifling matter. Then they would put you on the spot.
-Extremely difficult system for IT to keep track of their work. Very prone to mistakes yet workers in IT had to be blamed for making the most minor mistakes
-Auditing IT work has been a priority. However, no effort was made on how to let IT make fewer mistakes from the perspective of user interaction.

    Advice to Management

    Stop making changes constantly

    Pros

The company offers a people friendly environment, decent pay and benefits, and challenging projects. There are also opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

The senior management team has been a revolving door. The sales leadership team has delivered very poor performance over the years.

    Advice to Management

Find a sense of urgency. Put the right leaders in place with the right incentives so they stay in the job long enough to make a difference. Replace the sales leadership team that can deliver growth.

    Pros

    Marin location is great
Good people to work with and a lot of longevity
Lots of opportunities to do different jobs without leaving the company

    Cons

    Benefits keep getting cut
A new CEO every time you turn around
A new manager every time you turn around
    Opportunities for advancement not good

    Advice to Management

Quit doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. Which is what they have been doing, hence the demise of FFIC :(

    Pros

Well-intentioned people working very hard.Trying to overcome 25 years of stagnation of business practices (yeah, they did a Cobol compiler UPGRADE last year...). Very generous benefits. Nice campus.

    Cons

23 years of not being terribly efficient, effective, nor innovative have taken their toll. The longest term staff managed to survive by hunkering down and avoiding the revolving door of management initiatives. The parent company is now done pounding sand down the proverbial rat-hole, so significant downsizing to cheaper, mid-west sites is on the horizon.

    Advice to Management

    Bit late for that, no?

    Pros

Job was satisfying the first few years. Benefits were great. Many talented, hard-working employees who wanted to do the right thing for the company. Heritage Program was awesome. Cafeteria was convenient. Campus was pretty. A few true leaders kept me hopeful even when I should have run far away years ago.

    Cons

Too many bullies in all levels of the organization. Too much collaboration in a bad way - 100 people had to review a single document before it could be finalized. Many people wanted to do the "right" thing for their careers, not the future of the company. A lot of money and time was wasted on projects that didn't have fully-vetted business requirements. Review process had nothing to with hard work and talent. HR didn't support employees when it really would have been the right thing to do. There was minimal professional development and career growth. Way too many, unproductive meetings. Oh, did I mention the bullies?

    Advice to Management

I think most of FFIC officers have left the building. They should have listened to the worker bees - we knew what was and wasn't working and maybe we could have saved the company. I can recommend a few books for you to read on leadership and developing a strong, healthy, productive corporate culture. Here's a hint... you have to listen to your employees and empower them to make decisions.

    Pros

    Pleasant location/campus
    Good pay for contracting work

    Cons

    Bureaucratic paralysis
Corporate culture is fearful and tentative
The large, well-appointed campus is almost empty. So many rounds of takeovers, layoffs, etc have left this company a hollowed-out shell.

    Advice to Management

    Keep your resume updated
