Pros
enviroment, salary, benefits, vacations, flexible
Cons
career latter is very competitive
Advice to Senior Management
more opportunities to grow
Pros
One of the leading companies in the very exiting industry
Cons
Short term approach, lack of leadership from management. Very Geneva centric, no wish to understand local specifics (e.g.local flavor preferences)
Advice to Senior Management
To have more trust in the people they are managing. Be more realistic in target setting.
Pros
Great benefits including PTO, vacation, sick leave, health care. Innovative company with a global presence and worldwide locations. Interesting culture.
Cons
Micromanagement by General Manager. Unfair treatment if not one of "teachers pets". Lack of communication by our department managers-no staff meetings, no training, infighting between the two department managers.
Pros
Any new recruit is basically left to define their role themselves which is great when you are a self-motivating person and you generally know what is a good thing to do in regards to strengthening Firmenich's fragrance expertise.
Cons
For any non-self-motivating person it is a nightmare to figure out what your job role is, what is expected of you and how things are supposed to develop.
Advice to Senior Management
Senior management in Geneva as well as locally is well advised to close the gap in between themselves and the workforce/doers, otherwise people are just going to desert the company.
Pros
Nice enterprise to work which respects balance in life.
As international enterprise it has nice opportunities for employees
Good treatment
Cons
Familly enterprise.
Interesting competitors which better answer to client
Economy on CHF, sometimes the results are affected by the conversion
Advice to Senior Management
Manager is used to talk with you about performance, you are not really getting a feedback session, but you learn what to improve
Pros
Global company with plenty of opportunities to move around. There is much potential for growth even though they are dominant in their industries. Culturely diverse work environment employing people from various countries.
Cons
Global company that makes the workers work hard. Management is very tough and not very professional. If you work for headquarters in Geneva things are good, elsewhere are many agressive personalities (sharks) waiting to pounce on the weakest team or individual.
Advice to Senior Management
I would suggest that management allow the workers to provide more feedback and suggestions. Perghaps even impliment a reward system for suggestions that are deployed, as as reult of a workers recommendation.
Pros
Fascinating flavor and fragrances organization with a rich staffing that spans the globe. One of the most interesting places I have ever worked at and I typically enjoyed the daily challenges of my highly demanding job.
Cons
Despite geographic diversity (affiliates in Europe, Asia and Latin America) only a handful of African Americans are actually hired and at the time of my employment none were on a management track regardless of qualifications and experience.
Advice to Senior Management
If you are going to have a company in the United States and work in conjunction with partner companies to market products to sell to Americans, you should at least respect the American consumer enough to hire, train and promote African Americans. Perhaps Patrick Firmenich or other members of the Firmenich family are unaware of these practices as they are European and based out of Switzerland, but I hope that they will make efforts to impart changes and ensure that that their company seeks to work towards true diversity. The company as a whole could only benefit from this.
Pros
They dont lay off, good health care plan.
Cons
Pay not as high as competitors.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop using temps for over a year hire them or get rid of them.
Pros
Friendly environment Tobacco free environment
Cons
Doing more work for a less pay
Pros
-Private Company
-Excellent Benefits
-401K Match
-Flex Time
-Paid Time Off
-Great Leadership
-Global positions
-Excellent HR
-Competitive pay rate
Cons
- Petty office antics with life timers
- Divisons work in Silos
- Hard to move up through the ranks
Advice to Senior Management
Management levels need to be decreased. Levels of communication are sometimes strained. Management but truly embrace people as there best asset. All divisions need to stop working in silos.
