Current Employee - Outbound Sales Late Renewals in Phoenix, AZ

I have been working at First American CREDCO full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Pretty good hours. Most call centers are 24/7. At least when you are here you would get off at 6:00pm at the latest. The base pay is pretty decent as well. Considering the level or reponsibility. Typically $13.00/hr.

    Cons

Most of the managers here in Phoenix don't have very good leadership in place. HR is really weak. In outbound there is very little one on one coaching. Maybe 1 per month. The worst part was that that compensation was very inflated. And the interview process was very decieving. They didn't tell anyone in the training class the compensation plan because as they said, they didn't know exactly which department each of us would be in yet. They duped the whole training class into thinking it was $13.00/hour PLUS commission, when it was actually on a draw, and most Outbound employees agree that the Commission structure is unattainable for the most part. Out of about 12 people, only 2 or 3 are hitting the lowest tier on the comp plan.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more up front during the hiring process. Don't make promises you can't keep. Change the comp plan to something more attainable. Especially for Late Renewals.

Good company but there limited career options for the best performers

    Pros

Good company culture and work/life balance. Most of sales work from a home office which provides great time flexibility. Associates share their knowledge and help others.

    Cons

The compensation package is lower compared to other comparable sales positions and there aren't a lot of career paths or options after initial management levels.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide a compensation package with better upside for the top performers and increase resources for training of associates. The compensation is basically capped. An uncapped sytem would attract and retain the higher caliber sales people you need to be successful. Training is aslo important for retention and getting people productive in their jobs in a short period of time and give them more confidence in a position that requires diverse skills like selling skill, IT knowledge, mortgage industry and banking knowledge, etc

    Pros

Big company, opportunity to move around if desired, nice facility

    Cons

One of the key senior managers is pretty bad

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on taking advantage of full management team talent, rather than relying upon one or two key players.
