I have been working at First Investors Financial Services full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits are plentiful and recently the company has integrated a learing tool called FIFS (First Investors Financial Services) University for its employees to continue in their learning abilities to progress in their current role. The purpose of FIFS develops a learning organization that acquires the knowledge and core competencies that will sustain competitive edge and optimal performance.

    Cons

Not enough team building to keep team members motivated and activated. Opportunites for advancement are politically inclined and limited.

    Pros

Flexible schedule, decent overtime during peak seasons.

    Cons

This job doesn't require any education. I recommend someone that's just getting out of school with no experience to get the decent pay for a recent college graduate. No growth, lack of training, lack of resources, poor communications, 401K is horrible, no long term growth, no employee stock options, work almost every Saturday andvsimetime Sunday's. No educational or health promotions.

    Pros

The employees you work with are nice. A job with this company is okay if you simply need a job while you look for something else.

    Cons

Low pay, micromanagement. Little room for advancement unless you are someone's favorite.

    Pros

Good job if your just looking for something to pay the bills while you look for a better job

    Cons

Lied to about the job description. Basically a Call Center with paperwork on top of that. The management is terrible and don't have a good method to train new employees. Very hard to advance. The mangement prefers to keep people where they are. Pay is highly undervalued.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take notice and care of new employees. Actually try to make it possible to advance career not make it a one track mind.

I worked at First Investors Financial Services full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    -Quick hiring process
    -Potential high income
    -Good benefits
-Set up so you start fairly quickly
-They put a strong emphasis on training

    Cons

-Way too corporate. You can't email people unless your boss approves it first
-Dishonesty in the interview process. Don't call yourself a "financial services" company when your primary goal is life insurance
    -100% commission
-Force you to use your LinkedIn page as a First Investors
-Their "draw" program. My boss said they would loan out money for people starting out that you didn't have to pay back. I later learned they would be taking it out of your future paychecks. A blatant lie
-I had to memorize 4 pages word for word for appointments

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Be more up front about what exactly the job is. It's a life insurance company, tell people that at the beginning
    -Have a base salary
-Tell the branch managers to be less robotic
-Have a better system to get leads, they wanted me to open my parents address book and call everyone in it. Are you kidding me?
-Let people conduct their own appointments instead of memorizing 4 pages worth of notes. If you get the main points and can interpret them in an effective way, why have people memorize word for word?

I have been working at First Investors Financial Services

    Pros

You have a mentor/ sales manager that will close your sales for you. All you have to do is find the lead. Its fun b/c you pick your schedule, as long as its respectable. If your a good saleman with a good bank book, this job should be easy. "you get to help people reach their financial goals"

    Cons

mentor/sales manager takes a big cut in the beginning. hours are insane. prospecting is super hard.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

less micromanagement, managers should be more respectful of other in the people in the work place.
