I have been working at First Republic (CA) full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The people. I am fortunate to work with some truly amazing people who are incredibly smart and experienced and who have high standards for themselves, work hard, enjoy what they do and know how to have fun. I get to work with people who have a passion for service, enjoy doing the right thing and have a desire to help others. The culture. There is a shared belief in the importance in and value of collaboration, the team, responsibility, trust, empowerment and accountability. The pace. One of our values is quite literally reflective of how we operate: move fast, move forward. This creates a work day filled with a lot of activity and I enjoy being busy, having a lot to do and working in a fast paced environment.

    Cons

If you are looking for a job or a company that is focused on a 9 to 5 work day, this is not the place for you.

    Advice to Management

Continue to maintain an ‘open-door’ policy. Further the efforts to visit other offices outside of SF. Promote the importance of the continued maintenance of the unique and collaborative service culture that is First Republic.

I have been working at First Republic (CA) (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great workforce and leadership team. I really liked the customer first attitude.

    Cons

Very very aggressive timeline to get things done. Even though they vouch for work-life balance, it's not virtually there. Some management folks are way too ambitious and looking after their own cause at the cost of their employees. Massive shortage of workforce is a concern

    Advice to Management

Please enforce the work-life balance scenarios and address massive shortage of workforce.

    Pros

    They pay out quarterly bonuses.

    Cons

They are very cheap with their bonuses.

    Advice to Management

If you want to keep employees happy, we need more perks that most of the Bay Area has.

    Pros

Due to its smaller size, First republic bank has a really great work culture and I enjoy coming in to work everyday.

    Cons

Nothing yet that I can see

    Advice to Management

Promote internally instead of constantly seeking to add outside talent/

I have been working at First Republic (CA) full-time

    Pros

Very nice people. Great central urban locations (FiDi SF, Midtown East NYC, Century City LA).

    Cons

Systems out of date, culture out of date, VERY short staffed! No personal, management learning growth available. No flex schedules (very old world) and no true HR function.

    Advice to Management

Invest in manager and employee learning. Invest in technical training for your emplyees. Centralize HR and create a robust shared service function to help people learn, grow and navigate the company. Wake up! 2015, embrace flex working.

    Pros

Love working here. Everyone is really helpful and if you do your work you are rewarded well.

    Cons

Sometimes it can be difficult for new bankers without a full book of business to acquire clients.

I have been working at First Republic (CA) full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

First Republic has a fantastic culture that is not usually experienced in the banking industry. Groups are highly collaberative and work in tandem to generate a one stop shop at FRB for their clients. Compensation is good but not great.

    Cons

Management has their favorites and can be tough to break into a higher role despite performance. Unless you are in a revenur generating sales role, you are looked at like a commodity. Many groups feel entitled to a 9 to 5 schedule without the drive to generate more business.

    Advice to Management

Focus on ways to develop the junior to mid-level employees into higher roles within the bank instead of relying so heavily on outside talent acquistion.
