Pros
They respect you as an individual and understand that you have a life outside of the bank.
Cons
bureaucracy, bureaucracy, bureaucracy. I worked in a small town but they expected the same production as those in larger areas.
Advice to Senior Management
Pass information down the line. It's not good for moral when employees hear company news on the street rather than from management. Also, streamline the lending process. Compared to my previous employers, the lending process is extremely cumbersome.
Provide a clear and concise understanding of what everyone's job is. Make certain that a new manager knows what employees strengths and weaknesses are.
I would also suggest promoting from within rather than bringing in someone from the outside.
My final suggestion is to eliminate the "good ole boy" syndrome in the upper levels of management. A person's family name or ability to golf doesn't really justify a job.
