    Pros

FirstEnergy has competitive benefits and they consistently pay out incentive compensation bonus.

    Cons

FirstEnergy, like many utilities, is structured and does not allow much room for creativity.

I worked at FirstEnergy as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Worked in small teams on highly technical development projects. Was able to see the full company and felt interconnected to the challenges that the business faced. Always felt as though contribution was valued.

    Cons

Small team structure, extremely challenging political climate for energy producers using coal fired production. Additional challengs from operating in recent deregulated markets.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue working to bring top talent into the organization. Ensure that employees feel connected, avoid confrontational managemnt styles as this lessens the value from many of the employees.
