Pros
Regular paycheck, location is good, never bored. Met some really good, talented people who are trying to do their jobs the best way they can.
Cons
Have been at Fiserv for several months and still not sure I made the right decision to work here. As a newer employee, I was shocked to see how little actual training or guidance I received. Pretty much had to fend for myself as the current employees were too scared to talk too much as to be perceived as goofing off or socializing. Had to order my own hardware and supplies to do my job, still don't have access to the applications I need to do my job properly.
Management seems to jump everytime someone higher up has a bad day or something. Continually getting mixed messages about what I'm supposed to be doing. Don't understand how I could have a mid-year review after being with the company for 2 months, but it was required. Management and bogus edicts seem to get in the way of getting the job done.
I'm surprised at the number of current employees I know who are looking for positions elsewhere. Maybe I should to the same.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't think management gives a rat's a@@. It's all about the numbers, not about whether things are done correctly. Short-term thinking, with management trying to protect turf. Most of the associates are trying to do their jobs efficiently and effectively - give them the proper tools and stay out of their way.
Pros
cafeteria on the premises. free parking outside.
Cons
I took assessments to get this job and went through an interview. Then when I get into training class they tell me it is not a good fit for me. What is wrong with them?!
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to people who have just started at your company as they have no prejudices yet. they are objective because they do not know you! I was hired after going through an interview and assessments and then when I get into the training class i am treated badly because I am not picking up the material as quickly as other people in the training class. then i am told by the new hr person that they just hired 2 months prior to my starting that I am not a good fit for the job??!! Encouragment, kindness, making people feel valued...that is what motivates people! Not negative judgements and assumptions about their abilities!
Pros
Very supportive, lots of mentoring, as well a lot of work. Great people and a great place to work.
Cons
The culture takes a while to get inside it, but once you're there, you're good
.
Advice to Senior Management
Great operation. More stress on consolidation of these acquisition partners. Really need more time for installs ad have the sites set it up as a priority.
Pros
Most people here have been here for a long time.
I like the employee stock purchase plan.
They pay for two classes per semester if you go to school.
Cons
Really expensive benefits.
The employee evaluations are ridiculous.
Yabuki made over $5 million last year but we dont get raises.
Advice to Senior Management
Some of the managers dont know what their employees actually do. They should probably figure that out so they can manager better. Give raises and keep the employees happy
Pros
Benefits are probably the only Pros to Fiserv now. They are fairly decent considering....
Cons
Fiserv has an extreme lack of investing in it's people. There is very little or no, or they make it extremely hard to find, advancement, no way for people to learn new skills.
Enterprise Technology Group is unbelivablely dysfunctional and has no real apparent leadership or direction.
More and more job functions are shifting to FGS group in India, data center consolidations in the U.S. mean more jobs for India.
Biggest issue is Fiserv does not seem to want "career" employees, they seem to be happy with people just looking for "jobs" to fill in voids until they can shift tasks over seas. Or, if you are lucky enough to not have your function sent to India, then you can plan on staying at a dead end function that is propritary to Fiserv and will gain you nothing in the real world.
Advice to Senior Management
Take a step back and realize that there are/were many associates that are very dedicated and most craving to advance their skills! Perhaps think before the next round of layoffs about the people you have on the list. Most, like me, have been screaming until blue in the face to have Fiserv invest just a fraction back into training and advancement of its people as most are investing into Fiserv
Pros
Wonderful physical environment and location on Norcross campus. Flexible work schedules.
Cons
Reward for performance and contributions is lacking compared to Norcross campus culture prior to 2008.
Pros
Good Training Programs
Dedicated Training Staff
Telecommuting Opportunity
Lots of variety to work
Ability to impact and drive company profit results
Diverse employee base
Build positive peer to peer relationships for a comfortable and positive working enviornment
Cons
Poor pay compensation and promotional opportunities since Fiserv aquired CheckFree
CEO gets pay increases, but employees do not
Expected to evaluate performance but even if you are a solid contributor, there are no pay increases
Not a lot of development opportunity for career growth
Advice to Senior Management
Find a way to create layers of promotional opportunities
Work more diligently with workforce to create the ability to request time off as needed
Work with other leaders in the company to get on the same page
Pros
There are talented, dedicated people in the organization getting the work done.
Cons
The almost religious belief in outsourcing as budget salvation despite the fact that net savings are continually reprojected to future quarters.
Advice to Senior Management
We are a "service" company - your employees are your assets.
Pros
Strong company with a number of career opportunities across a number of business disciplines and areas. There is not a deeper set of integrated financial service products in the market. If you want the market leader this is it.
Cons
The leadership team is somewhat out of touch with the front line management and technical staff. More work could be done to place the value of the associate as part of the core values of the company.
Pros
Nice people to work with
Cons
As soon as you speak your mind you are a target. If you are a follower and follow the poor excuse for managers blindly you will be teachers pet and get promoted. You need to be a yes man in order to survive here. Do not speak up or try to improve things. Just do what you are told. If you are in a client service role now you will be stuck there until management decides you are ready to move on.
You have to beg for training.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing what your doing. It is obviously working. Just sit back and act like you know what is going on.
