Pros
Mangement is fair, decent and smart.
Attentention to quality and integrity are high.
Management is actively engaged in improving product and work environment.
Pay is okay.
Benefits are good.
Offices are nice
Colleague are great.
Cons
Poor technology infrastructure creates frustrations and reduces productivity.
Fitch is a smaller competitor in Industry.
Pay is somewhat low compared to bigger competitors.
Advice to Senior Management
Management can be penny wise and pound foolish. The company refuses to invest in adequate information technology, forcing wasted effort. They are stingy with pay, but that's common to most businesses. I would suggest management should try to keep highly productive employees by rewarding them better and giving them the technology to do a great job.
Pros
I find Fitch much less stressful than other places i've worked. If like me, money is not your biggest priority in life & you just want to be happy, then Fitch is a great place for you.
I think the benefits package is quite good.
Cons
Money a bit on the lower side than competitors. There are some staff who monkey around all day but i guess you'll get that anywhere you work.
Advice to Senior Management
My manager is fantastic - calm & relaxed about everything. It would be good if all the managers could be like that.
Pros
They have a balance between personal life and work
Cons
It is kind of difficult to be promoted
Pros
- Flexible Work Environment
- Excellent People
- Good Camaraderie
- Very Interesting Work
Cons
The industry is under intense external scrutiny and faces a notable regulatory burdens.
Pros
Good chance to have regional exposure and build up broder view of market. Good balance of work and life. Good people.
Cons
Acceptable compensation and benefit package. Overall workload has notablly increased due to the increased regulation requirement after the global financial crisis.
Advice to Senior Management
Can consider increase the headcount in those rapidly growting markets such as greater china to accomondate the increase in market demand.
Pros
Depending in which group you work, you can learn a lot down to nothing. Some analysts and managers have outstanding experience and skills which make it worthwhile to work for and with them. Very fair working environment, once people trust you, you can do a lot and get far reaching decision making power.
Cons
At the lower end of compensation in the industry, S&P and Moodys pay about 30-60% more while working environment may not be as good. Senior management sometimes works only for itself but lacks a clear objective what they want to achieve for the group. High staff turnover.
Advice to Senior Management
Outperformers should be kept through a clear-cut compensation scheme
Pros
1) High level of respect towards employees
2) Good work-life balance
Cons
1) Low compensation
2) Top performers are not given the recognition they are due
Advice to Senior Management
Keep the top performers happy
Pros
Work- life balance
Good brand name
Cons
Salary- on the lower side
Bonus is terrible
No real growth opportunities
Too much time wasted on new templates, compliance and policies
Most of the good employees just passing time and looking out
Advice to Senior Management
Invest in employees, and try to retain at least some of them
Pros
Work environment very relaxed. Benefits are very good; only if you're not married, pregnant or have children. Able to have a life outside of Fitch
Cons
If you're white, pretty/handsome and know how to kiss butt, you'll go very far. Promotions, raises and praise on a job well done have a lot more to do with personality and who you have lunch with, than how good you are at your job.
Advice to Senior Management
Management really needs to change. Being more with active employees is key. There seems to be no motivation for real progress.
Pros
Good work / life balance
Training / Growth Opps
Nice colleagues
Location - heart of City - although will change soon!
Cons
Compsensation lacks any real clarity - i.e salary in the same job title can differ wildely
Pockets of 'dead wood' - especially in snr management
Can be a very political environment
Advice to Senior Management
HR needs to get a handle on what it takes to keep (good) employees
Remove those managers 'managing agendas' and replace them with company objectives
Fitch could be a great company with a few tweaks!
