I have been working at Fitch Ratings full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

A great place to start a career, exposes you to a number of different products and helps build your analytical skills. The people are quite pleasant, shyish, reserved, and sheepish, but over all laughable and good companions. A large amount of responsibility is placed upon you and a lot is expected. The work life balance is great.

    Cons

They are heavily regulated. The regulations create headaches when you are trying to complete anything. Most of the regulations are arbitrary and meaningless to, so it is frustrating trying to wrap your head around who came up with these rules. The regulatory burden makes the job the most difficult, without it it would be a very peaceful enjoyable place.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stick it to the regulators, let them know who is boss and what is unreasonable.

I have been working at Fitch Ratings

    Pros

-Great people to work with, who are social, willing to explain things you may not understand, and are confident enough in their opinions and colleagues to defend their point, but also see the point of view of others.
-The educational and continued-learning benefits are substantially greater than other companies I have worked for.
-Very accommodating between work and personal life, as I've come to understand it and have come to infer from others. There will be times when you have to work your butt off although it never feels forced, and other times when coworkers will be asking "Why haven't you taken a vacation yet?"

    Cons

Compared to the workflow in other industries, there aren't a whole lot of downsides, but there are definitely busier portions of the year. Depending on which industry you cover, expect to be a little overwhelmed during year end and quarterly financial releases.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You're doing a great job, and it's refreshing to work in a setting that bolsters both career and personal growth. Not many places nowadays that instill loyalty to your company, but Fitch is one of them.

    Pros

Mangement is fair, decent and smart.
Attentention to quality and integrity are high.
Management is actively engaged in improving product and work environment.
    Pay is okay.
    Benefits are good.
    Offices are nice
    Colleague are great.

    Cons

Poor technology infrastructure creates frustrations and reduces productivity.
Fitch is a smaller competitor in Industry.
Pay is somewhat low compared to bigger competitors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management can be penny wise and pound foolish. The company refuses to invest in adequate information technology, forcing wasted effort. They are stingy with pay, but that's common to most businesses. I would suggest management should try to keep highly productive employees by rewarding them better and giving them the technology to do a great job.
