I worked at Fitness together full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexibility of schedule once you gain some seniority. Slightly above average pay. Above average when it comes to gaining experience in the field of training.

    Cons

Schedule not ideal when you first start. Promotions are for the most part non-existent. Most you are technically an "independent contractor," but treated as an employee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Completely overhaul of the tax and employment structure for your franchises.

    Pros

Wonderful employee training, amazing clients, top-quality training experience and facilities.
Great place to begin a career, along with an unbeatable staff. Work did not feel like "work".
I felt like I was part of a family.
    Great bonus plan and perks.
    Awesome employee selection by management.
A great place to network within the community.
    Clients are provided for trainers.

    Cons

No health, dental, or retirement benefits.
Difficult to grow within the company, which makes it easy to feel "stuck" for young professionals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue seeking creative ways to compensate/bonus employees.

I have been working at Fitness together full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great equipment. Privacy with outstanding 1-on-1 concept. Not having to do sales and interviews of clients. Super location, owner, and great tunes to train clients.

    Cons

Virtually all studios in Northern California closed due to poor sales. There were some excellent owners, but I think that 1-on-1 training took a big hit when the economy went into a funk.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

National advertising would have been a great help and I think that some of the regional manager/directors could have done a better job with helping studio owners survive the economic downturn rather than just trying to expand sales of new units. Group training would have helped tremendously.

I have been working at Fitness together full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Not having to worry about making sales is a huge pro as well as being salaried. You're able to work with clients in a one on one setting. There is no one around to distract your client or make them feel like they are being scrutinized by their peers.

    Cons

Work far too many hours, never compensated for growth in the field, no incentive program. Conversations are never followed through with, so nothing new is ever implemented on a studio level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Work on education for employees.
